Advantages: Three stories, very visual Disadvantages: Short, some didn't make sense
ThreeExtremes, certainly three short but strange horror movies by the Tartan Asia Extreme network, which probably do the best horror movies out there despite them being subtitled they have a great plot, great gory scenes and fantastic twists. I prefer the longer films, but anyway here is the three stories, and threeextremes. Firstly one film, threeextremes, each by a different director.
There is another film out threeextremes2. However I decided to put this to the test yesterday and watched it. The film links in with the 3rd section within the DVD.
Dumplings - Directed by Fruit Chan (shorter version of a film)
Firstly lets say this is the 45 minute, well shorter version of the film dumplings. This films certainly makes you think, what? As soon as you see the red jelly substance, which is put in this womans dumplings, to ...
Advantages: 'Dumplings', some of 'Cut', interesting filming techniques, really weird! Disadvantages: The incomprehensible 'Box', limited bonus features.
In 2005, my sister Claire and I decided to begin watching horror films. Fed up with the recent wave of sadistic, American slasher movies, we opted for something a little more exotic: the J-horror scene. The front cover for 'Three... Extremes' should not put you off, however. The sadism that it implies is not particularly true, as ...
should go in the search for cures to some of the horrible diseases that plague are world. Should we allow testing to be carried out on humans, should we allow testing to be carried out on animals? It's a hard question as without the research we may never be able to find cures, but in doing so should people and animals suffer at the hands of scientists.
Conclusion & Rating
-------------------------
This is a film which seems to have been over looked as a successful thriller, which is a shame as it throws some very good ethical questions into the ring. It also shows Hugh Grant in a new light as an actor who can play gritty modern characters. I would recommend this to anyone who likes a good thriller which will keep you hooked.
The DVD is currently £15.99 on Amazon which is extortionate for a DVD with no bonus features but if you look ...
