What can possibly be scarier than a giant see through glass house that has a basement full of super scary ghosts? not much in my opinion!

13 Ghosts was a film originally made in 1960, but this action-packed, thrill filled remake has basically outclassed the original by miles! Directed by Steve Beck this 2001 reamake of a horror classic proves that with a crew that has a clear image of what they need to achieve anything is possible!

The Story: What is 13 Ghosts About?

13 Ghosts is a disturbing tale of a wealthy ghosthunter called Cyrus Kriticos (F.Murray Abraham) , who's mission is to capture 13 of the worlds deadliest spirits to form an ancient machine known as the "Black Zodiac" which will basically unleash the gates of hell upon the Earth if it can be created.

In the beginning of the film we witness Cyrus, accompanied by a team of ghostcatchers and also his assistant, Dennis Rafkin (Matthew Lillard), who is a pyschic that can see the ghosts, on a hunt for their 12th ghost, a phsycotic monster called the Juggernaut. This hunt takes place inside a junkyard where the Juggernaut resides. Unfortunately during this terrifying ghost hunt many of Cyrus' men are killed savagely and also Cyrus himself is slaughtered by the rampaging spirit. Even though many die in the junkyard, the Juggernaut is caught. With the death of his uncle, Cyrus' nephew Arthur (Tony Shalhoub) inherits Cyrus' giant pane glass mansion and because Arthur's previous house was engulfed in a raging inferno that unfortunately killed his wife, Jean, Arthur and his two children, Bobby (Alec Roberts) and Kathy (Shannon Elizabeth) and also Maggie Bess (Rah Digga) thier babysitter, jump at the chance of a free mansion!

So as the family travel toward their new mansion in a desert part of the U.S, accompanied by Cyrus' lawyer, (J.R Bourne) Ben, they are greeted by Dennis Rafkin, who is diguised as a power company employee. They all enter the mansion and discover that almost every part of this household is made up of glass, apart from many ancient artifacts that are inside. Also many of the glass doors in the house have Latin encrusted on them, which unknown to the family, are captivity spells that keep the ghosts out of those certain rooms. The family are excited about the house at first, that is until Dennis sneaks off into the basement for a closer look and upon finding twelve spirits locked up in glass chambers down there he rushes back up to Arthur and his family and explains about who he really is and what Cyrus really did for a living. As Dennis is explaining everything, Ben pulls away from the group to collect a suitcase full of money that is intended to be his payment, but as he does this he trips a mechanism that seals the entrance to the masion and releases the ghosts! As Ben attemps to make his way back to the family, he encounters one of the ghosts, The Angry Princess, who he had mocked earlier. As the ghost approaches Ben he backs away and is caught between two sliding glass panels, which split him in half! So as Arthur and Dennis, who are wearing special glasses that enable them to see all the spirits, search for Bobby and Kathy who have both mysteriously disappeared. Things go from bad to worse! as the ghosts begin attacking everyone and anyone!

There's obviously more to the story but i dont want to ruin the ending for you! But i strongly advise you to watch this film if your wanted to be scared out of your wits by an amazing horror flick! and even if you dont like horror films you should still watch this movie, because this film is a guaranteed delight!

In my opinon there are many of horror films that are overshadowed by this masterpiece! in particular i think that out of all the ghosts The Jackal did it for me! It's one of the scariest things i have ever seen in my life! i mean im scared by mental patients anyways, but the thought of a crazy spirit chasing me around a locked class house with a box on its head! i wouldn't be very happy let's just say that! and The Jackals laugh sends shivers down my spine. But yeah ultimately, in my opinion this film should have won a Best Horror Film of 2001 Award! Well Done to Steve Beck for creating a Horror funfest!
