"Provenance" and "Providence", into a pseudo-movie. Again, the results fall way below the series average as the long-dead alien conspiracy business is flogged, with a lot of running around and ominous rumbling still not adding up to anything like an actual story. FBI agent Neal McDonaugh (ofMinority Report) inexplicably survives a flaming motorcycle crash, leaving behind brass rubbings taken from an alien spaceship, then shows up and tries to murder Scully's psychokinetic baby, who is promptly kidnapped by a UFO cult.In Part 2, Scully (Gillian Anderson) and Reyes (Annabeth Gish) fend off enemies and friends within the bureau as they track down the cultists, who are having trouble with a spaceship they've dug up, and a typical pointless climax has things happen without the characters doing anything to contribute. Even at this late, post-Duchovny stage in the game,The X-Fileshas turned out some fine stand-alone episodes, but these dreary wallowings go a long way towards explaining why only diehards are still watching. After the child says "I made this" at the end of the credits, it's becoming very hard not to shout "well, clean it up then".On the DVD:The X-Files: Providence, as withNothing Important Happened Today, arrives in a great-looking anamorphic widescreen transfer. There are two slight promotional "featurettes"--three-minute clips/talking heads promos focusing on the episode "Providence" and actor Cary Elwes' character. --Kim Newman
finale! After not knowing Fox Mulder's whereabouts for the last, A.D. Skinner and Agent Scully learn he's being held for the murder of a military man he couldn't possibly have killed: Knowle Rohrer, one of the government's secret super-soldiers. With Skinner acting as Mulder's defence, people who Mulder has dealt with during his last nine years as an FBI agent testify on his behalf. But this military tribunal isn't interested in the truth. Yet when an unexpected ally appears, Mulder refuses to slip north over the border to safety. Instead, he heads southwest to the Anasazi ruins of New Mexico seeking a mysterious wise man whom the Indians call The Keeper of the Truth.
please X-Files fans; those unfamiliar with the long-running sci-fi show have a chance to discover just how well an intensely eerie television score can stand on its own. Soundtrack master Mark Snow has done other scores for TV, but the X-Files is his most outstanding work. Right off the bat this CD transports you into the world of agents Mulder and Scully and the supernatural or extraterrestrial mysteries they uncover. The haunting, melodious whistle theme; the slow-moving walls of melancholy electronica; the ominous, urgent rhythms written for action scenes all recall the dark, spooky atmosphere that the X-Files program has so expertly created and maintained. There's also an ocean of dialogue to explore here, which for some may be distracting, but for others will bring back the suspenseful and sometimes horrific images from particular episodes. Overall, the dialogue is presented in a subdued enough way that it doesn't stand out oddly and oftentimes just reinforces the creepy intrigue that is the show's most wonderful quality. Recommended. --Karen Karleski

Plot: With Mulder still missing a year on, Skinner and Scully are surprised to discover that he's wanted for a murder that he didn't commit. Skinner acts as Mulder's defence and colleagues queue to give testimony on his behalf to a tribunal that doesn't care about the truth. When Mulder has the chance to leave he heads for Mexico and an Indian called The Keeper Of The Truth.
Advantages: Contains most important episodes Disadvantages: Important episodes really dont answer all the questions
...The XFiles season 9 is probably the best season ever because the truth finally gets exposed in it ! however some questions still remained which I hope are answered in the latest movie, questions like whats wrong with Scully's baby or what is going to happen now, after the truth is exposed, the good thing about this season is that it contains mostly story line episodes and less other type of paranormal cases, the bad thing is that it only contains 3 discs, which means less episodes.Another downside is that the last episode is not really all that interesting it is basically very serious and focuses on the previous seasons, guess that people who are a bit scientific will like it but people who want action and entertainment from DVD's then you people should not buy it !...

Advantages: Good crime thriller, plenty of suspense! Disadvantages: Not really an X-File film, poor ending!
...likely to have less expectation of the film. The film is good, but has many weaknesses, and I am still struggling to understand why an X-Files movie would be made in this way .. maybe the truth is out there!...
