Have You Found The Truth Yet Mulder?
Advantages: Good Price, Great Stories, Fantastic Show, M-Lock Packaging Disadvantages: None
...agent Fox Mulder. Sent to the basement because the FBI didn't like his work. Mulder has dedicated his life into searching for his lost sister and to prove that he's not crazy and that in fact little green men are out there. As Mulder has said so many, many times now "The Truth Is Out There". But has Mulder found the truth yet or is it long over due? Well your gonna have to read and find out :)
Season 6 picks up straight after ... ...The X-Files and reassigned. This means they're now doing simple background checks and any other simple, rubbish, boring and pointless job their FBI bosses can find for them to do.
The writers should have thought about how they were going to make episodes after taking the alien fighting team off of the X-Files. So for the first few episodes we see Mulder and Scully bumping into X-File cases as if by magic!
Six years ago we were introduced to FBI agent Fox Mulder.

They try simply just turning up and investigating even when there not meant to be there. They then try running off to X-Files cases and simply not telling anyone. Give Mulder a quick five minutes to travel back to World War 2 and have all the cast play Germans and were back in the present day. By now you would think the pair would have been fired but oh no...
The season gets off to a good start but I think the idea of Mulder and Scully running off to do other cases is silly. The FBI isn't going to let them running around to have a bit of fun and paying for it at the same time.
Getting back to the point, season six is one of the best seasons of the X-Files. The slow and pointless start to the season means there's a lack of conspriacy episodes involving Smoking Man and the gang but you can look forward to lots of them in the rest of the season.
Season 6 has a kind of feel about it. It's much more relaxed then a few of the past seasons. It's more stand alone X-File episodes and much less evilness and deaths every five minutes. Having said that this season isn't without its shocking and bloody moments. From people without faces and a guest star from the devil, this season is going to have you hiding behind the sofa.
Just want to share with you a few of my favourite episodes from season 6 without giving the game away.
Triangle - Mulder goes in search for a ship that vanished in World War 2. Mulder finds the ship but thinks the ship has come into the present day when in fact Mulder has gone back in time. All of the cast including Skinner, Smokie and Scully all popup on board playing Germans or other non X-Files characters. The episode has been really well done and uses an 11 minute system. This means the camera doesn't stop filming for 11 minutes. So you have an episode which was filmed in only 4 takes. Great fun but hard work for the actors!
Dreamland - How can I not mention Dreamland. This is yet another funny X-Files episode, this time a two parter. Mulder and Scully go in search of alien ships but instead Mulder switches with another mans body. All I can say is watch the mirror scene. It's sooo funny. It must have taken them hours to do it.. and the results ae fantastic!
Monday - This is another fantastic episode! Mulder and Scully die.. yes they both die in a bank robbery but Mulder's day starts over and over again until he gets it right.. Great stuff but annoying to some :)
Complete Episode List:
The Beginning Drive Triangle Dreamland Dreamland 2 How The Ghosts Stole Christmas Terms Of Endearment The Rain King S.R. Tithonus Two Fathers One Son Agua Mala Monday Arcadia Alpha Trevor Milagro The Unnatural Three Of A Kind Field Trip Biogenesis
22 Episodes on six discs - Special features on disc six
Once again I've got to brag about the M-Lock packaging. M-Lock packaging means you can get 6 DVD's inside a case which is about the same size as two DVD cases but together. This is done by having four of the DVD's hanging inside the case on plastic supports... sounds strange, looks cool and works well :)
Another great thing about the rerelease of the boxsets is the quality of the booklets. The booklets are made out of a great material which you can't rip that easy plus if you spill something on them just wipe it straight off.
The downside to the booklets is they don't have an episode description. If you want to find out the episode name, number, director, writer, BBC air date or names of the scenes/chapters then the booklets fantastic. You either get a small picture of each episode. It would be more helpful in locating your favourite episode if a summary had been added. Other then that the quality of the booklets is fantastic :)
By the way I didn't mention this with my review of Season One but when I purchased the boxsets they had an offer going. Buy all 9 boxsets and collect the tokens from inside each boxset, including season six, and you can send off for a limited edition box to store all the boxsets in. I think the numbers were limited to 2000 but there might be some left. However, it is a small cardboard box with a plastic list and a timeline on the bottom. Nothing special but worth sending the tokens off if you buy all nine boxsets.
Price wise the boxsets cost about £26.99 when I purchased them. If you know where to look now they cost between £11.99 and £19.99 so it pays to shop around! Special offer at Christmas? Might be this year so keep your eyes open!
The special features are included on disc six. You get a documentary about season six, behind the scenes, deleted scenes, special effects and for some reason 44.. yes 44 promo TV ads. I tried watching all 44 ads but got bored after the first ten or so. Don't know about you I would have got mad seeing all them on TV if we had Fox over in the UK.
The special features contain a number of interviews with the cast, directors, creators and the crew in general. I've found them to be ok but nothing special. Well worth a look :)
Drum roll please.... WIDESCREEN! Yes widescreen is here at last in Season 6. The picture quality has increased so much for this season and widescreen (16:9) is being used at last.. which makes the show soooo much better to watch..
Anything else? Yeah just a quick thing. I had a Liteon DVD player and tried playing the X-Files and had a problem with the DVD menu. The episode options didn't appear correctly and It just showed a red or green "X".. Something to look out for Liteon owners.
With extras, there's about 1000 minutes of X-Files on these six discs. I think its well worth the money you pay for it. I never purchase the old boxsets at £69.99 and if you see them in the shops don't buy them. I saw one in a shop the other day and I thought dear oh dear. I'd rather pay £20 for this more up to date version with lots of great features rather then some out of date cardboard box set.
Episode Quality - 8/10 - A good season if not the best Special Features - 6/10 - Not bad but could be better Packaging - 10/10 - Fantastic M-Lock design Overall - 9/10 - A great show and a great boxset

Advantages: The Two Parter Episodes Disadvantages: To much about Mulders Sister
...by Chris Carter (creator of the X files). In this season Mulder and Scully have been reassigned and are not longer part of the X Files. The saeson revolves around a women called Cassandra Spencer, a women who calims to have been abducted the same night as Mulders sister. She claims of an alien threat. This season i really enjoyed. Even though most of the season is whithin a signal storyline, there is still some episodes with Mulder and Scully investigateing ... ...opinoin is a really good way to watch the X files. The seasons still looks deeper in Mulders sister's abduction which can get very aggravating after six seasons. But apart from this, the season is very enjoyable and would be a must have for anyone who enjoyed the earlier seasons. ...
