I always loved the X-Files and I've only just got to series three of this boxset, but I cannot stop watching it. Here's the background, I bought season one boxset years ago and still have yet to open it and then I saw this amazing boxset in a sale for just £64. Despite the journey I was on and the weight it would be, I had to buy it. I could not believe the amazing savings I had made on it. Here's the background, I bought season one boxset years ago and still have yet to open it and then I saw this amazing boxset in a sale for just £64. Despite the journey I was on and the weight it would be, I had to buy it. I could not believe the amazing savings I had made on it. Since I bought, on a weeknight I cannot stop watching the episodes and since the end of June I have managed to get to just into the beginning of season three.
The packaging is not great and the external picture on my version of the boxset (which includes the first film) is also not great or really that encompassing of the entire show and the pictures on each individual year are not that brilliant. A little bit out there, maybe.
The really nifty thing is the little booklet that gives a few line summary of every episode and a brief overview of the year and how the show did in that physical year with regards to the cult following that still exists today. This helps for anyone that maybe cannot remember everything about the show and wants a small reminder or just wants to watch particular episodes.
I'm not going to discuss the episodes or the special features because if you're an X-phile you would want this anyway. If you're new to the show, what's the point in me spoiling it for you. Either way, new or existing fan, this boxset is a must have. Whilst not the prettiest looking boxset, it does have everything you want from it. I would say if you're a new fan, try and get it cheaper for it's normal retail price because some of the episodes are not for everyone. The conspiracy based ones can be a bit heavy, but on the otherhand, the non-alien based episodes may bore you.
Advantages: Great Boxset, every episode included Disadvantages: doesnt include the feature length movie
...must have for any "X-phile".
The DVD boxset includes all 9 seasons, with a massive episode count of 202 episodes.
When you start watching an episode of this award winning tv series, you want to continue!
This DVD boxset is fantastic as it also means you have every season, and dont have the dread as you approach the final episode of a boxset, and wish you had bought more.

Advantages: mulder, scully, the smoking man, different story every episode, running plot. Disadvantages: You can't watch it with someone who hates it, you end up hating them!
...I had never seen the whole thing before and the running plot really fills out to an astounding finish. I can't tell you the end. But even my husband started watching the last few episodes, he hates the X files!
It contains lots of behind the scenes features, and I would recommend watching them, they give you some background to where the x-files came from.
I don't think this is something that is ever to be going cheap, so if you can afford it, go ...

Advantages: Compelling series full of action and conspiracies of the paranormal, excellent. Disadvantages: A few weak episodes, which make up 5% the other 95% makes up.
...viewing all 9 series of the X files. This intelligent gripping and sometimes dame right scary series is brilliant to watch late at night just before you go to bed. The series focuses on a loner, Mulder, who gets pushed to the basement of the FBI building to work on his obsession with the paranormal. And on queue walks the intelligent beautiful scientist, Scully to bring Mulder back to earth again. This compelling series is a must see and every episode ... ...THE UNIVERSE? The series then goes from Mulder to Doggett, played by terminator 2’s T1000, Jason Patrick, adding a breath of fresh air and more excitement. The X Files is constantly good with only a few episodes in the entire series which go out on a tangent and a are bit weak, but the other 95% of the box set makes up and more. ...

DVD Description
This collection includes the entire nine seasons of the popular, award-winning television series. Creator Chris Carter introduced the show in 1993 and with it an entirely new blend of horror, science fiction, and drama, laced with more than a little humour. Conspiracy theory, aliens, and supernatural activity were the specialties of Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) and Fox Mulder (David Duchovny), FBI agents working on the top-secret X-Files. Mulder is a true believer in the paranormal, having had an encounter of his own in the past, while Scully is as pragmatic as they come. Follow their progress, as they raise more questions than they answer, in the show that revolutionised television and became the most popular sci-fi show in history.
