...The story (taken from the official website) :
The world changed when Aziraal, the god of war, was slain in the huge battle long ago. The hordes of Orcs lost their divine leader and were forced to withdraw to the southern wastelands. Now, thousands of years later, the location of Aziraal's tomb is still unknown, well hidden by other gods who did not dare to entrust the secret to mere mortals. However, now, a fragile peace between the civilized races and the hordes is at stake. When the dwarven mining expedition discovered an ancient temple dedicated to an unnamed deity - all of the world's most powerful factions saw it as a possible clue to the place of Azriaal's burial ground. Advantages: Great single player campaign, nice graphics, decent online experience Disadvantages: Historically innacurate at times, animation a bit clunky, addition of vehicles
...experience sometimes. Tanks are very difficult to destroy and they can restrict where you go on a map, leaving a very frustrating experience at times, especially if the game you are playing has a specific objective such as capturing a flag.
The range of weapons is generally good but some aspects are histrorically inaccurate. Aiming systems such as a black spot on top of guns were hardly commonplace during WW2. Radar systems telling you precisely where enemies are weren't either. These are just two examples of inaccuracies. However, sometimes I feel it is best to sacrifice historial accuracy for the sake of fun in the game, within reason. I think 'World at War' achieves this sometimes and other times it's just annoying; that is of course, if you get annoyed about these things like I do.
Overall it's a superb game but it's not without flaws. Well...

Advantages: Inspiring, entertaining and thought provoking accounts of women in wartime Disadvantages: Only that there must be so many thousands of other stories which remain untold
...I know it is only February but my award for the most gripping book I have read so far this year goes to What Did You Do In The War, Mummy? by Mavis Nicholson. This is not a new book, it was published in 1995, but after I recently finished a novel set in the Second WorldWar, I was encouraged to learn more about this period of twentieth century history.
In Mavis Nicholson's book, thirty-one women who lived through the Second WorldWar give their accounts of what they experienced. Some of the women are famous, some are not, but every one of their stories is remarkable. They made me smile and they made me sad. Most of all, they really inspired me by the strength they showed under sometimes horrific circumstances. They certainly made me feel that although my life is not perfect, I really do not have that much to complain about. This...
