Oh dear. A terrible mistake, seemingly ignorant of the best of its predecessors or the qualities of its competitors, this Bond illustrates that going through the motions is not enough. Lowpoints? Take your pick from the scene with Q (always suspect - why do they persist in keeping this lame banter) - soon to be R, played by John Cleese reprising English Twit (there's adventuruous casting), to the poorly shot chase sequences, the pitiful accents (Robbie Coltrane's Russian in particular), the token youth icon (Goldie) to instill some credibility and the inability to develop any kind of tension. The DVD has a 'making of feature' which shows how all the badly spent money was used - its telling that Dame Judi Dench chooses not appear in this and one suspects her continuance in the role of M is a contractual obligation. Like Star Trek, the Bond franchise should have been laid to rest while some of us still had fond memories of earlier glories. Its still a big draw at the box-office one assumes but surely word of mouth can sink a film as much as make it and this film should be withdrawn immediately as it is a lowpoint in the Bond saga.
