Wow, it's been a while since I was last on Ciao, 2002 was the last time in fact, and it's now early 2008. Seems like there have been some changes since then. I'd best start writing again.

This is one film which has certainly stood the test of time. It is the original and still the best portrayal of the excellent story The Wizard of Oz. A marvel in it's day as the film was partly in full colour. It was originally planned to be just monochrome but the producers decided that the film was so magical that the land of Oz deserved to be portrayed in full colour so hence the black and white start and finish. Judy Garland puts on a great performance as do the other actors.
No need to bore you with what the film is about, I'm sure everyone knows the story. This is an endearing film which all children should watch, adults too if you've not seen it. It is fantasy at its very best.

Advantages: The story, the visuals, a chance to glimpse at things past.... Disadvantages: The song and dance bits are not the best and it is occasionally corny.
Advantages: Timeless classic to be enjoyed by all, great story, beautiful sets, rousing musical sequences Disadvantages: The moral seems to be (in addition to "There's no place like home") that Dorothy should kill Miss Almira Gulch
Advantages: Fun for all the family Disadvantages: Not as popular as the original
