My Thoughts on the film:
To be honest i had'nt actually seen this film till 2000, i found it really hard to believe that any english made horror film would be worth a watch. I was then told to watch the film by a few of my mates, and to my astonishment i really liked it. I couldnt believe that a film like this could be made. Low budget, well laid out storyline and a great cast. And now i reconmmend the film and the special DVD to you. Christopher Lee plays a superb role as Lord Summerisle, he's so beleiveable, clever and somewhat mysterious. Whats really good about this type of film is that it deals with pagenism and cultism, and for the year it was made, it attracted a lot of media attention and thus made the film more intresting to watch. The film deals with some strong points, such as blasphamy, which some Christians may not agree with. And by having Inspector "Howie's" character play a devoted christian it deals with teh issue in a more strong and addaptive way. The whole film as a strong solid plot and its such a shame that we can't make horror films like this one.
My Thoughts on the DVD and its featurers:
When i bought this DVD, i didnt expect their to be so much bonus footage and i was shocked by the lenghly detail they've gone into to make this a must have DVD. They have a 35 Minute documentary about the Enigma of the Wicker Man, which i totally loved, all the contrasy, why the film was so powerfull, loved and hated, and the origans of the Wicker Man. Where did they get the idea for such a film.
The best bit about the Speical features has to be on Disc 1: A interview with Christopher Lee, and Disc 2: Running Commentary by the actors. Christopher Lee is such a great actor and watching him in this film made him more likeable, despite his role. The documentary deals with how he related himself to Lord Summerisle and what attracted him to the character and the Film
Disc 1 Run Time: 81 Minutes Disc 2 Run Time: 99 Minutes Approx
