Being a romantic comedy fan, I absolutely loved this movie. I was looking forward to this movie because I thought ‘ooh a wedding’ ; how romantic. But there was a lot more to it that your average wedding. So that added a lot more entertainment to it.
I thought the fact that Kat knew certain main (when I say main , I mean people as in ‘the main people of a wedding’ ; best man etc) male members added a certain amount of comedy to the movie even if it wasn’t at times meant to be of comedy value. It also got me thinking , I wonder if anyone in the ‘real world’ has ever been in the same situation that Kat goes through in this movie.
I thought that a good choice of actors and actresses were selected for this movie. My favourite character in this movie was Kat , because in some parts I felt sorry for her because of all of her ‘connections’ to male guests at the wedding , however on the other hand , some parts of it were funny. I found her to be a very interesting character who was very entertaining.
In a way , the plot reminds me of a fraction of the film ‘27 Dresses’ , where the main characters younger sister gets married to the character that the main character is in love with. I had enjoyed that particular film as it was all about weddings ; just like I enjoyed the film American Pie : The Wedding , because it was all about weddings.
There were a few ‘hot guys’ in this movie which provided me with some delicious eye candy. Even if I had not have enjoyed this film (I did though!) I think I could have watched it with the mute button on , just so I could get an ogle at the sexy men! Hehe! They were distracting at times!
This film isn’t that ‘true to life’ having thought about it. I mean could you honestly imagine someone paying $6000 so they would go with them to a wedding ? I suppose if you had money to burn then you might, but then when you think of all the other nicer and longer lasting things you could buy with that kind of money it does seem a little bit far fetched.
I Would definitely recommend this movie ; it’s a perfect film for a girlie night in! I reckon , even some men will love it!
Advantages: Good acting, funny at times Disadvantages: Big plot holes.
The Wedding Date was released in 2005, directed by Clare Kilner and starring Debra Messing and Dermot Mulroney. I have read some terrible reviews for this film but it isn't quite the disaster you might have heard, it is a watchable romantic comedy with a few funny lines and some nice performances in a four-weddings style. The film itself isn't that bad, due to the strong cast, the odd decent line and a good sound track. It does however have a few ... ...for her younger sisters wedding. The problem is that her ex-fiancee is the best man, and Kat does not want to go alone and see the man who unceremoniously dumped her two years previously. Eager to impress her family and appear happy in the eyes of the man who broke her heart she hires male escort Nick Mercer (Mulroney - from my best friends wedding) to pretend to be her boyfriend for the weekend. Kat intentions to pretend to be happily in love backfire ...

Advantages: It's short Disadvantages: It's still too long to watch this travesty against acting, directing and screen-writing
...her sister's wedding in England. The only problem is the best man also happens to be the man who dumped her two years before. Unable to face the prospect of seeing her ex-fiancé alone, she hires a high-class male escort to pretend to be her boyfriend. Initially she intends to make her ex see what a fool he was for letting her go, but as the days go by she finds herself falling for the charming man she has hired.
You can tell how bad this film is ... ...rose petals and that's before The Corrs kick in. Even though it's billed as a comedy and it stars the girl from "Will and Grace", you know it's going to come down to championing the course of true love. It's the film equivalent of a disposable chick lit novel. Director Clare Kilner is clearly trying to make a cross between "Four Weddings and a Funeral" and "Pretty Woman" with a gender switch. What he ends up with is an unholy mess of wedding movie ...

...four on Sunday night for the second time and I still love the film it's another chick flick that I liked a lot.
With Debra Messing, better known as Grace in Will and Grace it's about Kat Ellis's (Debra Messing) worst nightmare. Not only is her younger, half sister, Amy (Amy Adams), getting married before her, but to add insult to injury, the groom's (Jack Davenport) best man is Kat's ex-fiancée, Jeffrey (Jeremy Sheffield), who ended their relationship ... ...and can't bear to attend the festivities at her parent's London home alone, so she does the next best thing, she hires an escort to play her boyfriend, Nick (Dermot Mulroney). But the scheme takes a turn when Kat finds herself attracted to Nick and the feeling seems to be mutual. But will their business arrangement stand in the way of a relationship or will they end up happily ever after.
A great cast with Sarah Parish is the sister's British cousin, ...

...such a labourious task but The Wedding Date has finally made me believe that the devil may be a director out to punish all of mankind with cheesey, soppy nonsence. It must be noted that i'm writing this film from a male point of view and that my girlfriend has promised me that this film really is great. I'm not sure if she was watching the ame film as me because i don't see where she got that from.
It's not like the acting is terrible and her from ... ...aged woman. Actually thats just the character she plays in Will and Grace. With a pletherer of Uk actors and actresses it also shows that us Brits do lame comedy better than anyone else in the world. The movie follows a woman in her attempts to make her ex lover jealous by flaunting her new male prostitute friend that she found in the yellow pages. Must have taken atleast ...well....30 seconds to come up with this patchy story line.
But it ends ...

Set up, for what could be a a rollercoaster of laughs, this film then dribbles along at a rather slow pace, introducing new characters at every scene, making the pplot more and more complicated, when the ending is blatently obvious.
Not a classic ...
