The weather man is a great comedy from the director of Pirates of the Caribbean (Gore Verbinski). Rated a 15+ due to strong language, sex and sexual references. One disk containing the film and special features. The film is approximately 97 minutes long. I found this film for only three pound in the bargain bin at blockbusters but have seen it priced at around the same price on eBay and Amazon.

The cast then:

Nicolas cage -staring in such films as the rock, con air, gone in 60 seconds, face off and many more. He play's the man character David Spritzel shortened to Dave Spritz for hes weather show on TV.

Michael Caine - staring in films such as The Italian job (original), Austin power gold member, the dark night (batman) and many more. He plays Robert Spritzel a famous writer who becomes ill during the film.

Gemmenne de la Peña - only 16 years old and just starting out with her carrier has been in one episode of ER and has recently been in the film Nothing is private also know has Towelhead in America. She plays Daves daughter only known as shelly an over weight girl struggling to bond with her father.

Nicolas Hoult- 19 years old know for staring in about a boy. Know through out the film as only Mike. A troubled young lad who's been in a bit of trouble with drugs in the past and trying to go good from now on.

Hope Davis- started her carrier in 1990 with a small part in home alone playing a French ticket lady going on to make many films and playing in a series called six degrees (14 episodes). Shelly and mikes mom only known as Noreen through out the film. Still married to Dave spritz but no longer together.

Quoted by the Sunday mirror "A fresh and quirky comedy". They rated it four stars along with heat magazine, hotdog, maxim and closer

I would also rate this film a four star film although its bit of a silly comedy and the storyline isn't as good as it sounds it has a lot of funny quotes such as a scene where he goes out to buy fast food as is asked not forget the tartar sauce walking down the road hes thoughts in hes head he stops behind a women at the road:

"Man, I'd like to put my face in there. Right in there. Tartar sauce. My hips are cold. Tartar sauce. That's when you know its cold. I like eating pussy. Tartar sauce. A lot of guys don't. Well maybe they do. Maybe that's just black guys. Tartar sauce. What happened to the guy who was trying to fly around the world in a balloon? Did he make it? I should put some espionage or stolen plutonium in my novel. Tartar sauce. Spice it up. Neil Young. Fuck, its cold. Neil Young. Wh-why am I thinking about Neil Young. Neil Diamond. Neil... There's not a lot of famous Neil's. Is this Wednesday? I wish I had two dicks. I thought the whole family was going to learn Spanish together this year. That never really happened. I haven't had a Spanish omelette in a long time. Here we go" an he arrives at the shop needless to say he forgot the tartar sauce

So what is the story all about then Dave spritz Chicago's most popular weather man and minor celebrity. A filing father of two who's given the chance to make it big in New York. He tries so hard to make it work with hes wife who hes no long with but he just makes things worse and she finally meets someone else. Hes failing attempts are hilariously disastrous. Hes daughter is overweight and being picked on names such as camel toe, she's started smoking and isn't making an effort to bond with Dave, hes son who was once in trouble with drugs gets sexually abused by hes councillor, hes father becomes ill and theirs no cure and just to add to all the stress in hes life people keep throwing things at him n the streets as they recognise him of TV, poor thing. Sounds quite serious but made it to entertain. A comedy which can get a little over the top in places.

My favourite scene has got to be one of two Dave gets hit with a large cup of pop through hes car window while on the phone and says f**k I got hit with a pop all in hysterics I found this particularly funny for some reason and the other scene where both he and Noreen had been to classes to build there trust both writing a secret that the other can not read Dave reads Noreen's secret sparking a row and causing her to read he's: lacked enthusiasm when giving b.j's had a disagreement as to how important this was, I thought very.

Special features on the disk include the making of the weather man, extended outlook: the script a talk with screenwriter Seven Conrad about the film , atmospheric pressure about Chicago's unique weather during the winter months one of the toughest jobs due to the temperature climate, the style and palette, a little chat with the characters and a trailer, here's a link to see a trailer http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=i3_KgbI0PKY

Comes in your normal DVD case, blue with a large picture of Nicolas cage under an umbrella on the front.

Overall not a very good comedy as the storyline is not as promising as it sounds. It reminded me in places of white chicks which i just couldnt watch because i thought it was to over the top, but dont get me wrong i do like this film quite alot its just not for everyone, the whole film gets a bit silly in places but has a lot of funny rememberable quotes I would watch this film again if I was in the right mood and I'd recommend this to anyone who wants to watch it for the gags not a deep storyline.
