The Waltons Season 2 dvd boxset ------------------------------------------------
As a huge Walton's Fan I was very excited at the release of the second series on DVD, and I was certainly not disappointed! For those of you who are not familiar with the Walton's - Shame on you!
The Waltons was a drama series filmed during the 1970's. It was based on the Novels written by Earl Hamner, who narrates throughout the Walton's episodes. He wrote about his childhood and transition into adulthood during the difficult times of 1930's & 1940's America, and is who the Character John-Boy is based.
The Waltons are a large family consisting of: Father John Walton, Mother Olivia, daughters Mary-Ellen, Erin & Elizabeth, and sons John-Boy, Jason, Ben and Jim-bob. Also living with the family are John's parents Zeb & Esther.
There are 24 episodes in total which are: The Journey The Triangle The Awakening The Honeymoon The Heritage The Gift The Cradle The Fulfillment The Ghost Story The Graduation The Five Foot Shelf The Car The Air-Mail Man The Odyssey The Separation The Theft The Roots The Chicken Thief The Prize The Braggart The Fawn The Thanksgiving Story The Substitute The Bequest
The Boxset itself contains 24 episodes on 5 seperate discs, and the discs are in seperate slim plastic jewel cases, like the first seasons boxset, but it may depend where you bought them, I bought mine from a site in the USA, as they are much cheaper and are released at least 6 months earlier than the UK.
The boxset also conatains one feature length episode called The Thanksgiving.
Nothing in the way of special extra's, but then The Waltons was filmed in the early 1970's, so not much in the way of technology!
I really really liked the first season and thought this would be no different but I have to say that I found this so much better, the acting flows so much more seamlessly, the scripts and the interaction between the characters is much much better. They seemed to have settled into their roles and everything seems so much more comfortable.
The Waltons is a good wholesome drama series, that you can watch as a family or with your kids and not worry about the content, and many of the problems and dramas depicted still hold true to this day.
A fab series to watch on a rainy Sunday afternoon .
I am so looking forward to watching the next series, I have both series 3 & 4 but have not yet watched them! But rest assured as soon as I do you will know about it!
For all Waltons Fans don't forget......Season 3 was released on the 11th September 2006 in the UK and I believe unless they change it again season 4 is available in the UK from August 2007.
