The film with the ass poster

Advantages: Scary and unique imagery and concept
Disadvantages: Bad acting, cliches, finale

The classic film opening - bit of music, bit of scenery from lots of angles, big shots of the city and then blamo we have Casey jogging along a bridge, one snowy morning in a park (twasn’t really a ‘blamo’ moment tbh). She sees a glove lying on the path and being easily distracted she decides to pick it up. Behind her a sickly looking child stares at her wearing only one glove. She turns away and sees a bulldog wearing a plain white mask over its ...
...describing to her friend over the phone as she baby-sits this creepy little boy and his sister. The boy gets out of bed in the night and when she goes looking for him, he’s in his baby sister’s room making her stare into a mirror, repeating over and over “Jumby wants to be born now.” Casey disturbs him and it smacks her up (changes her pitch up).

Disturbed Casey is having lots of problems lately. She hallucinates weird things ... more

the excitement was unborn

Advantages: plot potential
Disadvantages: acting

This film looks poor from the cover – a weak excuse to show us a young woman’s bum. Quite why the scary stuff seems to happen when she is in her underwear is a mystery to all, but happen then it does. Basically this film is about an evil spirit slowly but surely taking over the aforementioned hot semi-naked girl, and that’s it! My friend told me this was the scariest film he’d seen in ages, so we yet again went against our better judgement and ...
...get a move on!’ The plot is so predictable, you see the scary bits coming a mile away and of course that makes them not scary. The plot is weak, but it has little hints of opportunity where you know they could have actually developed it and made it a whole lot stronger. On top of that, the acting is awful! One of the many problems with this film is how shallow the characters are. Again, there is potential to do a lot with them, but they gloss over ...

The unborn- more like 'the we've seen it all before'

Advantages: only if your bored!
Disadvantages: seen it all before. . many many times!

The unborn is basically a cheesy horror film about a boy that died at the hands of the nazis and then becomes a demon. He trys to be reborn down through the family line. Its full of demons, and creatures from the other side etc etc. Its your typical 'exorcist' flick with a twist of Nazi histroy. Not enough of a twist though to make me feel like I hadnt seen this all before! The boy might as well of been called Damian and have a '666' tatoo on his ...
...The special effects were quite good but was over shadowed by the bad acting! It was so cheesy it could have been 'Scream'. Odette Yustman is very pretty but thats about it. But she was by no means the worst! i was very diasappointed with Gary Oldman I thouhgt he would at least make this film bareable! I was really looking forward to this film and was very disappointed, i love a good scare and this was not a good scare. If your easily scared and ...

The Unborn (DVD) was Unreal!!

Advantages: Its only 84 minutes
Disadvantages: 84 minutes is still too long!

I was at a loose end last night so I popped to the local Blockbuster and picked up a copy of The Unborn..... The Plot Casey Beldon starts to have horrific nightmares, which contain visions of a strange looking dog (that wears a mask?), and an evil zombie looking little boy. One evening Casey is baby sitting at her neighbours house. She hears Matty (the neighbours little boy) chatting over the baby monitor. When she goes upstairs to check on Matty, and his newborn baby brother, she finds Matty holding a mirror over his little brother's face, getting him to look at the reflection. Weirdly Matty suddenly turns and attacks Casey with the mirror stating "Jumby wants to be born now". The next day, Casey's friend, Romy, tells her of a superstition involving newborns and mirrors: "they shoudn't see their reflections for at least ...

The Unborn Film Review

Advantages: Gary Oldman
Disadvantages: Everything else!

You may have noticed the poster for The Unborn, which boasts Odette Yustman's perfectly-shaped ass as the main feature of this supposedly frightful, supernatural horror-thriller. That's about right. Yustman does spend a majority of the movie prancing about in her underwear, attempting to look frightened by the number of threatening visions that have entered into her life. And while that will no doubt appeal to horny, heterosexual teenage boys -- the film's obvious target audience -- that's not enough for people like me, who anticipate seeing a decent movie. If I want to be entertained my some chick's ass, then I'll watch porn, thank you very much. So, yeah. Yustman plays Casey Beldon, a college student who suddenly starts seeing horrifying things unfold before her. Of course, everyone thinks she's crazy, and it takes a visit to her ...

"The Unborn" A review of the spooky horror

Advantages: Great story, decent special effects and very unique
Disadvantages: Some 'off' acting in parts, can become a little boring

The Unborn is about an evil spirit from another world seeking revenge. Is it possible to be haunted by someone who has never been born? - It tries to slowly take possesion of her body. The Unborn starts off quite mellow and put together, but soon explodes with questions as you get a little confused. It's a rather dark film with some really scary bits which make you jump a lot, but it deffinitly makes a good film. I really did jump at one point which is probably the 2nd biggest jump I've done out of a horror film, number 1 goes to Friday the 13th (2009). The storyline is extroidanary, nothing I've come across before. Like many people, I've seen movies which have people being haunted by ghosts and such, but this film is a spirit from a different world and involves twins from an unborn baby... how strange! I think the storyline is ...

Review Something arresting happens with The Unborn, attired in its generic, hand-me-down title. It actually scares you (Time Out, New York, 09/01/2009)

DVD Description

College student Casey Beldon (Odette Yustman, CLOVERFIELD) begins having dreams about a spooky little boy with bright blue eyes. She thinks nothing of it as first, but when the image becomes a recurring motif and the boy she babysits for hits her in the face and tells her 'Jumby wants to be born now', she begins to get frightened. After learning that she had a twin brother who died in utero, she finds a photo of her late mother with the same ghostly child looming in the background. A newspaper clipping then leads Casey to visit an elderly Holocaust survivor (Jane Alexander) in a nursing home. The woman clues her in to a dark family secret extending back to WWII, which prompts her to employ the services of Rabbi Sendak (Gary Oldman), whose scepticism about evil spirits is vanquished when he sees what he is up against.
