Homefront DVD in Colour. World War 2 In Colour

Advantages: Interesting to see colour footage
Disadvantages: None, really

This DVD is part of the History Channel World War II in Colour. It is the story (shown in colour) of how the people of the USA and Britain coped on the homefront, whilst the service personnel of both countries were away fighting against the Axis countries in what must have seemed like the four corners of the globe. The Atlantic, the Pacific, Northern Europe, Southern Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the far East, Australasia, and so forth. The first chapter of the DVD is entitled "making do." Because the programme was created for the American audience, it begins not at the start of the homefront in Britain, but with the homefront in America, which was basically created only when Pearl Harbour was attacked by the Japanese. Suddenly, America new what it was like to face a relentless enemy who seemed implacable and incapable ...

Pretty Woman

Advantages: Great story, shopping, characters
Disadvantages: None

as well or been continually successful if it had of stayed as a drama but who knows. I think the reason why this film works is that deep down, every woman if pressed would admit that they would love to be whisked away from their life by a millionaire who buys them clothes and treats them well but in the end realises that they love them for who they are and not what they are or what they do. Julia Roberts who won a Golden Globe ward for this film plays Vivian, a hooker who has a chance meeting with Edward, the millionaire in Beverly Hills. He needs someone to attend functions with him whilst he is in town with no strings attached and agrees to pay Vivian for her time. Of course, it helps that Vivian is drop dead gorgeous, with legs that seem to go on for miles and a killer body. Would the same thing of happened if Vivian was ugly ...

Where in the World is the Substance?

Advantages: A good place for new politics students to start.
Disadvantages: A cop-out ending and little of substance.

discussions on deeper issues. It seems like a beginner?s guide to bin Laden and the extremist school of thought he comes from. It occasionally feels as though the director is treating his audience like idiots ? particularly in his tendency to subtitle conversations with people that are entirely comprehensible. The speedy pace and the filmmaker?s cheeky demeanour carry the film to a certain extent. But there is an awful lot of fluff and very little substance. So once the credits roll after ninety minutes, you?ll have learnt nothing new. The screenplay by Spurlock and co-writer Jeremy Chilnick has a shaky central premise; Spurlock wanting the world to be a safer place for his unborn child. His theory is that if the whole of the Western world?s security forces can?t find bin Laden, then why not go the action movie route and send in one man to do ...
