This was not the first re-enactment of the Titanic disaster and Im sure it wont be the last. What this one does offer you above the others is a falsely created love story to tangle up in the telling of a tragic story.
The famous ship that went down in 1912 brought many problems of its own during filming of this epic. People were injured quite badly during stunts, a lot of the cast and crew developed food poisoning and it ran horribly over budget and behind schedule.
What it did create was one of the most dramatic and realistic movie sequences I have ever seen.
we all know the story of the big ship that was deemed unsinkable that sank on its maiden voyage. Overconfidence being its biggest and most fateful problem, yet it still drew large crowds to see it despite knowing the ending.
It tells the story of Jack(Leonado Di Caprio), a chancer and gambler who wins his ticket by gambling at cards. His fate is sealed as he first saves the life of, and then falls in love with a rich lady called Rose (Kate Winslett) who herself is engaged to a gentlemen (Billy Zane). Her True love blossoms on the boat and is helped along the way with another rich lady on the boat who helps dress Jack accordingly for Dinner in a Tux to impress her family. It all goes horribly wrong as the ship starts to sink. Many other adventures beset our heroic 2 as they battle to survive the ship. Only one does of course. Rose, now and old lady, goes back to the ship after her necklace is recovered from the wreck by a deep salvage ship. A true epic but I doubt it will be the last in the romantic/disaster movies. Also, at 3 hours long, its a bit long winded.
