The Time Traveller’s Wife was planned for a fall 2008 release but it was delayed until August 2009. The reason of the delay was that they had to do a reshoot and they had to wait for the meadow to look the same again and funny but for Eric Bana’s hair to grow out again. He had a role in Star Trek where he had to shave it.

When we heard that there will be a film based on this exciting and brilliant novel we decided to go together to the cinema to watch it. Well, I had to wait a lot until I could really watch it but it was worth waiting for it.

This drama was directed by Robert Schwentke who directed previously the Flightplan, The Family Jewels and the Tattoo. I haven’s seen any of his previous work. The producers of the film were: Brad Pitt, Nick Wechsler and Dede Gardner. The classification of the film is 12 years and over. The running time is 108 minutes.
Main Cast -------------- Rachel McAdams – Clare Abshire Eric Bana – Henry DeTamble Ron Livingston – Gomez (Clare and Henry’s friend) Jane McLean – Charisse (Clare’s best friend and roommate, Gomes’s girlfriend) Stephen Tobolowsky – Dr. Kendrick (Henry’s doctor) Brooklynn Proulx – Young Clare Abshire Alex Ferris – Young Henry DeTamble
Plot -------- The film starts with a plot where the 5 year old Henry is sitting behind his mother in their car and she is driving in the snow somewhere. They are singing and suddenly they have an accident. Henry disappears from the car and they found him unwounded, naked at the side of the road. He meets the older Henry who explains him that he time travelled and everything will be okay.
Then we see the 25 year old Henry working in the library. Clare enters the library and is looking for a special collection. She is directed to Henry who is responsible for these collections. Clare gets very excited when she recognises Henry. She can hardly find words but she invites Henry for dinner in their or at least Henry’s favourite restaurant Beau Thai.
They meet and Clare starts to tell him that she knows him since she was six. She met the elder Henry and they spent a lot of time together. They end up in Henry’s apartment and spend the night together. What happens next? If you have seen the film you know, otherwise I would spoil you experiences in watching this beautiful film.
My opinion ---------------- It was the most moving, catching, engaging and tear jerker film I have seen in the past months. I really loved the book and I waited the film based on the novel. I know that Jeremy Leven and Bruce Joel Rubin had to leave out a few characters from the novel and I think they have done a brilliant job. I really enjoyed the film. The story gave me back the atmosphere of the book and I think it contained as much details as possible in 108 minutes.
The performance of the actors was outstanding. My favourite ones were the two Clares. I loved the young actress Brooklynn Proulx. She was exactly as cheeky as she should be, she was authentic. I loved her tiny voice and when she was sulky that Henry was married and was in love with his wife… I won’t forget that look for a couple of months.
What I really liked in Rachel McAdams play was her excitement for seeing Henry in the library. Her eyes were smiling too and the chemistry between her and Eric Bana worked very well. They were authentic as a couple. Rachel McAdams is a beautiful actress and she was a perfect match for the role of Clare. She was simply brilliant.
Eric Bana’s disappearance was solved fantastically. We could see him naked a few times. Well he has nothing he should be ashamed for he was in a fantastic condition. He is a handsome actor and I really enjoyed his performance. I really enjoyed how tender and mysterious he was when he met young Clare.
Although I haven’t listed her I really loved Michelle Nolden who played Henry’s mother. She had a small part in the film but she acted brilliantly. She had a very touching meeting with Henry on the underground.
The soundtrack of the film was hardly noticeable for me. I was so engaged in the story that all I remember was the singing in the car, the music at the wedding and when they listened to the songs of Henry’s mother at Christmas. Naturally there were other soundtracks as well but I can’t recall any of them, so they must be fitted well.
Overall I think it was a beautiful love story it was worth watching. I will rewatch it again I’m absolutely sure. I recommend everyone who love touching love stories.
Advantages: Nice enough film Disadvantages: Doesn't come anywhere near the book.
...Two years ago I read The Time Travelers Wife by Audrey Niffenegger and was absolutely blown away, so when I heard it was to be made into a film I knew it was something I had to see. I was kept waiting though, as the release was postponed by a year, however on the 14 th of August 2009 it finally made it's way to the cinema screens. The plot is an unusual one. Clare Abshire (Rachel McAdams) met Henry DeTamble (Eric Bana) when she was 6 years old and ... ...to him, and occasionally to the future. The film begins with a 5 year old Henry in a car with his Mother, driving in the snow. An accident occurs, killing his Mother yet Henry is found unscathed at the side of the road, completely naked. Roll on 25 years and Henry is at work in a Library when a young woman (Clare) recognises him and obviously knows him very well. Yet Henry doesn't know her at all. A future Henry has been travelling to Clare's past ...

Advantages: Explained the concept of time travel very well Disadvantages: Didn't give as much detail as the book did
...because firstly, I have read the book and it's one of the best novels I have ever read. Secondly I am more into action films than a romance/love story but the chance came a long so I thought why not? The film is based on the book 'The Time Travellers wife' which is written by Audrey Niffenegger. It tells the story of Henry who learns at a very early age that he can time travel but he has no control over it and never knows when or where he going to ... ...life. I felt the film was pretty slow and I felt myself wanting to give it a kick up the backside to get it moving a bit quicker having said that the second half was slightly better than the first. I found myself on the edge of my seat at one particular point and I was willing Henry not to disappear at that very second. I really felt that the film lacked any detail that the book seem to give and I found myself wondering why they didn't expand on ...

Advantages: Good handling of Niffenegger's story Disadvantages: Bana's accent!
I'd just finished the book of The TimeTraveller's Wife and having enjoyed it way more than I expected I went to the cinema to see the film version. I was very sceptical about how well a film version of this book could be done, but must say i was pleasantly surpirised.
The story of this film/novel is that of Henry DeTamble (Eric Bana) who involuntarily timetravels and has no control at all over when or where he goes. The film follows the story of Henry and his wife, Clare (Rachel McAdams). Clare first meets Henry at six years old, when he travels from a time when they are already married. He visits her throughout her childhood, before they become separated for 2 years. When they finally meet again Henry has no idea who Clare is, but she already knows everything about him and that they will get married. The film follows the issues ...

INTRODUCTION
I went to the cinema this week for the first time in ages.
My daughter was staying with me and she had just read the book, 'The TimeTraveller's Wife' by Aurdrey Niffeneger, and she was desperate to see the film, so off we trotted to my local Vue cinema for a girlie night (the male members of the family just didn't fancy it!!)
So I write this review of the film from the viewpoint of not reading the book ...
Advantages: Romantic Disadvantages: Can be confusing in places!
Yesterday , whilst chatting to my friend on Msn , we were both saying how bored we were , and so were looking for something ?fun? to do. I suggested going to our local pub for a quick drink later that night , when my friend said ?why don?t we go to the cinema??. So to the cinema we went.
We went to our local cinema , (not the usual , local cineworld cinema which we usually go to). It?s not as good as ?Cineworld? as there are only two screens and the ?rooms? are tiny! But it?s cheap and so it was good enough for us!
When we got to the cinema , there wasn?t much that took our fancy. The only options were a horror film (I can?t remember the name) or The TimeTraveller?sWife. I had read a review about it in a magazine , and although Rachel McAdams is one of my favourite actress , I didn?t really think that this was gonna be my kind ...
