Review of Life On Mars: Series 1, DVD by BigCD159

Advantages: Good Soundtrack, Picture and Story
Disadvantages: NONE

...WOW, just finished watching the first series of Life on Mars and have to say that I LOVED IT!! Comes complete with interactive menus and a kicking 70's soundtrack that if you like 70's music, I am sure you will enjoy. Special features include audio commentaries and a documentary shot especially for this DVD featuring cast interviews and behind the scenes footage. There are also a selection of outtakes, which in my opinion any good DVD should include. The series starts in 21st century Manchester where Sam Tyler is working on a case, and is then hit by a car, the next thing he wakes up in 1973 and it begs the question, is he mad??? has he travelled in time??? or is ihe in a coma??? this keeps you guessing right up to the very last episode. The series is made up of 8, 1 hour long episodes that all form together to make the story... Read review

"Ay up Cleggy!"
Review of Last Of The Summer Wine - Series 1-2 - Complete DVD by paramanjara

Advantages: Great performances from the cast. Lovely location work.
Disadvantages: The pilot episode is not included.

...Last of the Summer Wine is the longest running sitcom in the world. This DVD features the first two series from 1973-75. Sadly they missed an oppurtunity by not including the pilot episode, which introduced us to the characters at the funeral of Clegg's wife. From the pen of Roy Clarke (Keeping Up Appearances, Open All Hours), Last of the Summer Wine featured Compo (Bill Owen - Carry On Sergeant, Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads), Clegg (Peter Sallis - Taste the Blood of Dracula, Doctor Who - The Ice Warrirors, Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Were Rabbit) and Blamire (Michael Bates - It Ain't Half Hot Mum, A Clockwork Orange), three unlikely friends who have known each other since they were boys and who now finding themselves heading toward the twilight of life and facing abject boredom and a lack of work try and find ways... Review of FA Cup Final 1973 - Sunderland vs Leeds Utd DVD by dodgeinator

Advantages: The Best Account of the FInal Available on DVD
Disadvantages: The sound and picture aren't great

...From a Die hard Sunderland fan undoubtedly the best day in Sunderland Association Football Club History, when they took on Leeds in the 1973 Fa Cup Final. After defeating Luton Town 2 - 0 in the quarter final and Arsenal 2 - 1 in the Semis, Sunderland's Cup Final Slot was secured. Leeds on the other hand defeated Derby County 1 - 0 in the Quarter Finals and beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 2 - 1 in the semis. On the 5th May 1973 the teams took the pitch in a hard fought encounter. Then in the 31st Minute up popped the late, great Ian Portefield to bag, what would turn out to be the winning goal in the Fa Cup Final, to bag it for the Black Cats. This DVD contains an account of this close caught epic thriller that was the 1973 FA Cup FInal.... Read review
