So Hallowe'en night, the obligatory somewhat pathetic partying has ended it's about 1o'clock in the morning so decide to put this on and live the Hallowe'en atmosphere.
THE STORY It's 1973 and the film starts with a filmed walk through of the crime scene of the Chainsaw Massacre and before it can really get started we are thrown towards the past and 5 young people coming back from partying in Mexico to go see a Lynrd Skynrd concert somewhere in Texas, when suddenly they meet a young female hitch hiker who keeps crying and is more than abit erratic. They pick her up and start driving in the direction she came from which made little sense to me but hey. She starts screaming your going the wrong way (why did they pick her up if they weren't going to go her way? Why?). She then gets over excited pulls a gun from the heer groin and shoots her self in the head in their car. SHOCK! What are they going to do now?
They head towards civilisation with the dead girl in the van and come across a dirty, gloomy garage with an inbred old texan woman who bes less than helpful. SHe tells them the police will meet them at a Mill. So they go to the Mill, the sheriff isnt there so two of them go to investigate and come upon the house. An old inbred man in a wheel chair first meets them and only lets the hot woman come in, he tries to takes advantage of her as she tries to help him by constantly feeling her ass (who couldblame the man Jessica Beil is hot) and the other guy goes in to see what the delay. Bam the leather face guy runs out and kills him. Erin (Jessica beil) leaves thinking her friend has left but then looks for him again. The sheriff arrives and he doesn't seem to be too savoury a charcter and it appears the girl that killed her self may have been a reltion of the screwed up leather face family. The Massacre ensues
My opinion on this film is mixed, it's a sorta good horror film, some gruesome moments but if its sadistic horror you're looking for Hostel maybe more along your lines. There are a few moments that make you jump as well. Though one thing I shall say in its favor is that it is actually quite a good remake, alot of remakes can be pretty crap but this one was acceptable. I think i would recommend the old film though, those old 70s horror film create an atmosphere and style in themselves due to just being made back in the 70s. Jessica Beil also made ths film quite enjoyable, she just gets her T-shirt progressively wetter throughout the film.
The extra features DVD was quite good. It has a documentary about a guuy called Ed Gein on it who was the real life inspiration for The Massacre and also for the story of Psyhco. The Guy was a real sicko, he lived with his mother till he was 40 then she died so he went mad and robbed the graves of women. Skinned tem and upholstered a chair with their skin amongst other gruesome tings. He even used the skin to make himself a body suit so he could pretend to be his mother. This documentary is actually quite scarry. It has photgraphs of the guys house and ugh etc. There is also another documentary about how they remade the film trying to the original story and stuff, this was less interesting and there were then a few trailers, and screenings of the actors for the part. Things I dont understand why people waste their time watching them.
The film also ends nicely by returning to the crimescene walk through and leaves the story open.
The film cost me £6.50 and was quite a good buy I think, the film is a moderate horror, and the Ed Gein documentary was really worth watching as well.

as to you, this movie didnt make much sense and I was really annoyed by the ending, where nothing happened. I was like "ok, and now what??" I think you could improve spelling in this piece a little bit

Advantages: Alright plot, one decent replication of one of Hooper's techniques, some decent gore. Disadvantages: The original film isn't known for good acting, believable characters, glossy direction, etc...
Advantages: Colours are richer and crisper, the music is truely UNIQUE! Disadvantages: storyline is basic but typical of that era, movie is short lived
