I'm not normally a fan of horror movies but was persuaded to see this on halloween. It was definatly the most tense film I have ever seen, the combination of a jaws style soundtrack, chainsaw noises and leatherface chasing people around deserted buildings is what did it. There were points in the movie when I actually jumped (which succeeded in scaring those around me). This movie while based on the original texas chainsaw massacre, has enough new sequences and the improvements in SFX and acting make a huge difference. From the moment the movie starts, the tension begins to build. It is refreshing in that it doesn't rely on the usual cliches of horror movies to get cheap scares. Instead the eerie settings create an atmosphere long before the chainsaw gets to work. Be warned though this movie is extremly graphic and doesn't hold back in the torture scenes. It is quite a disturbing film and if like me yor easily freaked it may well feature in your dreams for a while. If your a fan of horror movies then this is definatly for you, with a well written story, good acting and excellent special effects the texas chainsaw massacre 2003 is likly to make it into the top ten of horror movies.
