The Terror The Terror
The men on board Her Britannic Majesty's Ships Terror and Erebus had every expectation of ... more
triumph. They were part of Sir John Franklin's
1845 expedition - as scientifically advanced an
enterprise as had ever set forth - and theirs were
the first steam-driven vessels to go in search of
the fabled North-West Passage. But the ships have
now been trapped in the Arctic ice for nearly two
years. Coal and provisions are running low. Yet
the real threat isn't the constantly shifting
landscape of white or the flesh-numbing
temperatures  dwindling supplies or the vessels
being slowly crushed by the unyielding grip of the
frozen ocean. No  the real threat is far more
terrifying. There is something out there that
haunts the frigid darkness  which stalks the ships
snatching one man at a time - mutilating
devouring. A nameless thing  at once nowhere and
everywhere  this terror has become the
expedition's nemesis. When Franklin meets a
terrible death  it falls to Captain Francis
Crozier of HMS Terror to take command and lead the
remaining crew on a last  desperate attempt to
flee south across the ice. With them travels an
Eskimo woman who cannot speak. She may be the key
to survival - or the harbinger of their deaths.
And as scurvy  starvation and madness take their
toll  as the Terror on the ice become evermore
bold  Crozier and his men begin to fear there is
no escape...

Full review

This film is laughable bad. It seriously is crap. It contains a Duke who is actually some other guy who has taken on the body and mind of teh duke. In my mind that pretty much makes him the duke. What else is left. There's nothing horrifying about despite the name. Ha God it's crap. I bought it for 99p and it's not worth any more than that. It's just so unbelievably stupid. This mightn't be the most articulate review ever but if you see this film you'll understand. It's also full of historical inaccuracies to name a few

1) Jack plays a napoleonic soldier who has got lost from his battalion after the battle of Auswitch. Well he has got seriously seriously lost as Auswitch was in Austria and he ends up beside the sea.

2) This Napolenic soldier dspite being really bad at orientation does eem to be quite clever as he has invented the revolver and given it to the onset of the 19th century

3) The Baron/duke who is apparently austrian but could be Italian if the geography worked out abit better prefers to adorn his castle in French and English standards rather than those of his own nation.

But the greatest shock is Francis Ford Coppolla made this film!!! Well I suppose we all have to satrt somewhere

Run away from this in terror
Review of Face Of Terror (DVD) by  pmcds

Advantages: Some decent moments, somehow kept me watching until the end
Disadvantages: Mostly really bad across the board

...This is a DVD I picked up for £1 a couple of years ago. I suppose the price should have told me something, but I gave it a shot, hoping to have found a bit of a gem. Face of Terror follows Nick Harper as he tries to find his missing sister in Barcelona. While travelling from the States to Spain without permission from his boss, cop Nick finds himself in even more hot water when he arrives in Europe to find that his sister had fallen in with the wrong crowd. As he trawls through dodgy photographers, drug dealers and terrorists, Nick realises he must have his wits about him if he is to find his sister before he loses his life. Ultimately, it's distinctly average in nearly every way. with a pretty mundane plot, some terrible acting, and some bad timing in the editing stakes. And yet, strangely, there's something intriguing about it... Read review

Review of Terrorstorm - A History Of Government Sponsored Terrorism (DVD) by  floater

Advantages: Truth you'll get more out of this DVD than 20 hollywood ones easily
Disadvantages: none worth mentioning

...and you are just taking control by having your eyes opened. I saw a couple of events during my life thinking and knowing something is amiss I always knew the government and the people dictating the rules were incompetent but this film lets you know why they are being incompetent - the reason being they are simply puppets in power carrying out an agenda for a ruling class. I can say more and more and more, just watch this and you will start searching for more shocking information be prepared though it will change your life and probably the views of many people around you when you start talking about it and encourageing people to watch this DVD or one of the many other DVDS emerging onto the market or mainly on the web This DVD covers John Charles de menezes, London Bombings, september 11th, the war on terror, and it also includes some... Just don't watch while you're eating
Review of Planet Terror (DVD) by  midpikyrozziy

Advantages: Brilliantly acted and directed, gore-filled fun-fest
Disadvantages: Not everyone's cup of tea

...Planet Terror Intro Robert Rodriguez's 'Planet Terror' was originally released alongside Quentin Tarantino's 'Death Proof' to make up the Grindhouse double feature, which was a tribute to the whole Grindhouse genre and their favourite B-movies. The term 'Grindhouse' is an American term referring to a theatre that mainly showed exploitation films, which is a genre of film that relies on the exploitation of something (eg. a big star, special effects, sex, or violence) for it's success. To put it in an exploitation sub-genre, Planet Terror features elements from the early zombie films and splatter films. It was released in 2007, but was considered a flop, mainly due to a poorly considered release date on Easter weekend and poor advertising, but if you like this sort of film, you will love Planet Terror. DVD Description

Horror legend Boris Karloff and a young Jack Nicholson team up in this disjointed but enjoyable Roger Corman quickie. Nicholson plays Lieutenant Andre Duvalier, an officer under Napoleon who finds himself lost along a stretch of beach, where he is seduced by the beautiful Helene (Sandra Knight), who may or may not be a ghost. His obsession leads him to the gloomy castle of Baron Von Leppe (Karloff), a recluse haunted by the ghost of his dead wife, Ilse, who Andre suspects is actually Helene, or vice versa. Longtime Corman regular Dick Miller plays Stefan, Von Leppe's trusty servant, and Dorothy Neumann is a witch who may be using Helene as a tool for revenge. All the characters do lots of skulking around the gloomy sets and outdoors along the beautiful Big Sur coastline, where the exteriors were filmed. Corman shot the interior scenes in two days, on sets left standing from his previous film, THE RAVEN. Though a little short on coherence, it's a lot of fun, and it's great to see Karloff and Nicholson together in a sort of passing of the machiavellian torch. A nicely ominous mood maintains itself with the help of Ronald Stein's robust score.
