**IN CONCLUSION**
A great action movie with the rather 'iffy' actor (now U.S. politician) Arnold Schwarzenegger, although his part as the Terminator seems to be perfect for him…
The story line is well written, without being to confusing, making this an easy movie to watch, the twist at the end really giving the audience something to think about.
The stunts are adequate and well presented, without going too over the top and spoiling the movie itself.
The special effects are well done, especially the quite convincing Terminator as its metal skeleton is slowly revealed during the movie. You realise that a lot of thought went into the way the SFX team wanted the audience to appreciate just what the machine actually is.
Linda Hamilton acts her part well as the very confused, and increasingly angry, lady with something to protect, and Michael Biehn gives his all as her protector.
In all, a good action/sci-fi movie with everything a good movie needs, including the standard car chases and many shoot outs, and with that bit of romance you get the entire lot.
*Would I recommend this…?
Yes I would… even if you rate Schwarzenegger as an actor, he plays the part of a futuristic 'robot' well, almost looking like one in real life is a big advantage I suppose.
It is more or less none stop action and is worth at least one viewing… you can get a copy from www.amazon.co.uk for less than £7.00 today.
Advantages: A great classic film, Arnie Disadvantages: Too outdated for me and a bit laughable
"In the Year of Darkness, 2029, the rulers of this planet devised the ultimate plan. They would reshape the future by changing the past. The plan required something that felt no pity. No pain. No fear. Something unstoppable. They created The Terminator". A lethal cyborg with human skin, named the Terminator, is sent from the future, back in time to complete a deadly mission. It must find and destroy Sarah Conner, a young girl who, unbeknown to her, ... ...solider, Kyle Reese, fighting against the machines in 2029, is also sent back to the past, assigned the task of protecting Sarah and destroying the almost indestructible Terminator. But who will find Sarah first - Kyle or the Terminator? And how will the future of mankind be shaped? ~ Cast ~ The Terminator - Arnold Schwarzenegger Kyle Reese - Michael Biehn Sarah Connor - Linda Hamilton I'm ashamed to admit that I'd never seen any of the Terminator ...

Advantages: The best Arnie film ever Disadvantages: Dated Graphics
I first watched the Terminator when I was far to young a couple of nightmares later i was a big fan. The atmosphere the film has is incredible, Arnie is at his hardest and was born for this role. He looks walks and talks like a robot with out needing to act so you really can believe he is a Terminator.
The film is essentually a cat and mouse affair the seemingly unstoppable terminator being the cat and the future mother of John Conner the savior of humanity sarah Connor being the mouse.
The story might seem to be a bit complicated and believe me
its quite complicated to explain it but here goes. In the year 2001 a military defense computer called cyberdyne is activated and given ultimate power as it controls the whole of Americas nuclear missiles and defense capabilities. Needless to say it all goes tits up the computer goes nuts ...
James Cameron's THE TERMINATOR is one of the tightest, tensest sci-fi films ever made and a landmark in the genre. In the year 2029, battles rage between the super intelligent machines that rule the world and the last vestiges of humanity. In late-20th-century Los Angeles, Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) suddenly finds herself stalked by an unstoppable killing machine a Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) sent from the future to kill her and her son, John Connor, the future leader of the human resistance. Sarah can rely only on Reese (Michael Biehn), a soldier sent from the future to protect her from the seemingly indestructible Terminator and save humanity. This low-budget masterpiece was the breakthrough film for director Cameron, who weds special effects, thrills, and understated romance to create one of the finest action films of the 1980s, which spawned many imitations but few equals. Science fiction author Harlan Ellison sued over the film's similarities to his own works, especially the OUTER LIMITS episode Demon with a Glass Hand, and won acknowledgement in the film's credits. Schwarzenegger will forever be known as the relentless Terminator, a heartless killing machine who returns (in a kinder, gentler form) in 1991's TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY.
