This one is a masterpiece from Steven Spielberg. Its Christmas time and everyone is in a mood to relax leaving behind all the office worries, and i bet this lovely movie will not only make you laugh but will touch your heart ! The movie though belongs ot the Comedy Genre but it actually is more than Comdey, it keeps you lost in its flow and make you feel the characters in real sense.
Cast
Directed by the maestro Steven Spielberg (i am big fan of his movies) , the movie stars Tom Hanks and Catherine Zeta Jones and Stanley Tucci.. It is on the story by Andrew Nicol and Sacha Gervasi. To be very true, i never knew that this one was from Steven Spielberg as i love to watch movies and i rarely care about the cast and directors. I saw the movie and when i was watching the cast in the end i realised that it was none other than Steven Spielberg who has made this masterpiece.
Plot
The movie is about a man trapped in JFK international Airport and is neither allowed to enter United States nor to return back to his home country due to a revolution that has taken place.
The main character of the movie Victor Navorski
is from a so called country Krakozia and arrives at JFK International Airport and is neither allowed to enter United States nor to return back as his passport has become invalid since his country's government was overthrown by a revolutionist rebelling group. He is forced to stay at the Airport terminal until their is a specific order for him to leave or to enter United States from the Authorities.
Victor starts living at the airport and the movie figures the lovely ways he adopted to start earning and living there. His sweet and funny activities and talks wins heart of many including the actress of the movie named Amelia Warren who was a flight attendant. With a perfect blend of friendship turning to love , Victor and Amelia comes quite close to each other and Victor explains the reason of his visit to United States.
The reason of Victor's visit was to take an autograph from jazz tenor saxophonist Benny Golson . His father who was a great fan of Jazz has vowed to take the Autograph of all the 57 Jazz musicians feature din the photograph which was published in a newpaper. In 40 years he had managed to take autograph of all the 56 and he came to take the 57th one from Benny Golson in United States to fulfill the wish of his father. This is pictured and placed so well in the movie that it will win your heart.
With the lovely ways which Victor invents to live at the Terminal, the movie goes on with a drama at each point. The war in Krakozia is now over but the Immigration Officer Frank Dixon who was not at all impressed by Victor's ways (due to the position he held) did not aloow him to still enter United States.
Amelia informs Victor that she has talked to her friend who was a governement official to help him gainig the right to enter the United States. Victor becomes quite depressed because he learns that Amelia has refreshed her realtionship with the 'friend' during this all help she had seeked from him.
Dixon refuses to allow Victor to enter United States, but with course of time Victor spent at the terminal he had made huge number of friends who actually rolled into a protest to help him out in entering United States against the Immigration Officer Dixon. He is finally allowed to move out of the terminal and takes a Cab to the place where Benny Golson is performing.
Victor at last takes the autograph, picks up the taxi and heads towards his home country.
Characters
Victor : a completely adorable man who is funny, witty but yest so emotional and tocuhing.
Amelis : a beautiful air hostess, caring yet professional.
Dixon : A strict Officer committed to his duties.
All the Performances are perfect but the special mention is obviously of Tom Hanks who has stealed the show. He is brilliant all throughout teh movie and the expressions are perfect. catherione Zeta Jones has tried to steal the show with her lovely smile and appearance but Tom Hanks has managed to go above that too !!!
Special Effects
The movie is all about the sentiments and a normal human and does not actually involve any special effects. However, the movie in itself is 'Special' so in any case you will not miss the special effects you get to see the hi-tech stunts or other special effects used in the other Genre of the movie. The movie's Genre does not actually link to Special effects.
Sound Tracks
The movie has a lovely and emotional soundtrack. It tocuhes your heart and DVD has not missed a single beat of that. I would say if you want to hear sootheining music this christmas....here it is !!
General
If i had to name the best movies which is had seen in recent times i would name it as first mentuion. This is not something which i am saying because i love Steven Spielberg but believe me this you would say when you will complete this movie. Yes, one word of precaution is there. This movie ha sthe power even to target the audience who are not very much interested in watching the movies of this Genre. I saw it with my wife and bboth of us never talked once during the complete watch.
OOps, this comes as best view on a HDTV !!! :) i did so, so i recommend so.
So, if you are looking to chill this Christmas, lying on your bed and enjoying the drink, i would suggest to play this one and make the moment more special.
Its a value for money and a must to watch !! A complete family movie so don't forget your children too.
