Most of my reveiws will be a light hearted look into things. There are better ones to read for the factual and well researched information, but, feel free to share in my sounding off or mad enthusiam for silly subjects as and when it arises. ;-)

This movie may have had a cast of more than Mr Hanks, but their participation was rarely required to make this little gem of a movie touch you in all the right places.
I'm sure everyone knows the story from reading very factual in depth reviews. Tom Hanks plays Victor Navorski, a genuine nice guy who is chasing a dream (will say no more, dont want to give anything away) stranded in the airport terminal following a coup in his native Krakozhia.
The confusion and melee of the situation when Victor discovers what is actually happening, shows Tom Hanks at his best. This is what true acting is all about. Fantastically human, touching and real. You find yourself relating to this character, warming to him. I found myself pulled into the movie head first. It was a novel idea and indeed a brave one.
The only downside I have to say is the same one that seems to be cropping up in quite a few reviews, im glad to see I was not alone. Catherine Zeta Jones's part. Is it necessary? Not only was her acting as horrendous as usual, but the actual role seemed almost side lined. Her talent greatly outshone by even the support actors. I would've liked the time wasted on her part to have been spent with more contemplative work by Tom Hanks, doing what he does best.
If you enjoyed Castaway, you will enjoy this. The premise of one man holding down an entire movie alone is a hard one, but one Tom Hanks has proved more than one, he is more than capable of.
