Regan and Carter face violent clashes and often use firearms and illegal methods to get an arrest. Undoubtedly influenced by movies like GET CARTER this acclaimed, gritty and notably realistic TV series--where police work is not glamorised and the effects on personal relationships of the committed coppers is all too clear--still has resonance, but at the same time is of its time.

...This DVD covers the first series of The Sweeney, the great 1970's cops and robbers show where the Flying Squad's Inspector Jack Regan (the late John Thaw) and his Sergeant George Carter (Denis Waterman) spend their days chasing blaggers with shooters in souped up Granadas and Capris,shaking down a grass here and there and calling in on robber's dogs for leads.
Alright not everyone comes from Laaaaandon so here's a quick translation:

Blagger: armed robber of banks and building societies and such like - usually with broken nose and pyschopathic too.
Shooter - a gun, carried by blaggers on a job

Advantages: i like the story Disadvantages: too much singing, should not be a musical
...I was at a friends house when we decided to watch Sweeney Todd, At first I though I was going to be really scared of the film, I thought it was going to be a pillow by the face kind of film, but I can quite honestly say it wasn't... when Sweeney Todd (Johny Depp) kills people the blood looks really fake. the film its self was OK, but you kinda knew when things were going to happen. Also the musical bit got rather annoying after a while.
Even though the film is like 2.30 hours long it felt like only a hour.
I felt rather sorry for Sweeney Todd at the end, although if you want to know why you must watch the film.
The film is basically about a love story and is build on jealousy, hate and revenge
A good old mixture of feelings for a good old film...

Advantages: So funny. Disadvantages: Bad in parts.
...I bought this dvd in a double pack with bo selecta series2 and I can definately recommend buying the both of them.
This is british comedy at its best. From Michael Jackson to Marilyn Manson nobody escapes having the fun taken out of them. Ive noticed that with Bo Selecta you either love it or hate it.
The only bad thing id have to say about this dvd is that some of the sketch's are just plain not funny. Such as Avid Merrion and his fantasys for celebrities. I think that the other sketches make up for this. Especially one with Claire Sweeney who is releasing an album for christmas with songs such as baa baa black sheep and we wish you a merry christmas.
Id have to say that if you dont like comedy where all thats happening is people having fun made of them then this is not for you. Id have to say that after watching this dvd Bo...
