Force turned it down.Only the faith of its brilliant designer, R.J Mitchell, kept the Spitfire project moving forward and into service - just in time to become the symbol of British pride and power as a 'killer fighter' during the Battle of Britain. This is the story of R.J. Mitchell and his most famous aircraft design that was the only Allied warplane kept in production for the entire duration of the war over 40 different versions seeing service. The story of the Spitfire features rare prototype footage which includes air to air film, as well as dramatic combat from the Battle of Britain.Featuring rare archive materials and exclusive interviews, this programme - presented and produced by William Woollard - also looks at many of Mitchell's lesser known aircraft designs, including the Walrus and Stranraer flying boats, the 'S' series of racing seaplanes that secured the Schneider Trophy for Britain and the world-beating bomber the was working in at the time of his death which would have been one hundred miles an hour faster than the Lancaster. As a finale salute to R.J. Mitchell and the Spitfire, this unique programme also includes extensive coverage of the Battle Of Britain 50th Anniversary commemoration fly-past over London with behind the scenes reports and dramatic air to air and cockpit camera film of the event as it happened.

Then we step into Eagle Day, The Moment that the Luftwaffe were going to Crush the RAF in the Skies and on the Ground.
There is also some details of the Battle of Malta, this Battle wasn't well known about. (A bit about it!) In 1942 the Axis Powers decided to squash the tiny Island of Malta as the RAF had staged Sorties against Axis Supply Ships heading for North Africa. The Battle of Malta lasted THREE times Longer than the Battle of Britain.

All in All, a Very Impressive DVD but it only lasts for 55minutes. It's in Dolby Digital Surround so you get that crisp sound. A PAL Region 0 (Free) Disk it's in English but can be watched anywhere (As long as it's PAL not NTSC)
You can look at anything from £5 to £14 for this DVD & I haven't seen a VHS Price. Steve
