I received this as a present and it was pleasant enough. In light of the recent 2005 Ashes win by England though it is outdated. However if you want a quick history lesson and an explanation of the great and the good in the sport this is a good place to start.

cricket. In this sumptuously illustrated book he delves deep into the game’s history, tracing its development from its rustic beginnings to the international sport we know today. Along the way he examines – and at times demolishes – many cherished myths. Among the subjects to which he pays particular attention are the changing social role of cricket, developments in the rules, the emergence of the professional player, the game’s spread throughout the British Empire and the part it has played in cementing international relations. John Major’s History of Cricket reflects not only his lifelong passion for the game, but the depth of his research among a wealth of hitherto neglected but fascinating sources. It is a significant addition to the already rich literature of the greatest game of all.

Advantages: Great DVD, good highlights and features. Disadvantages: None
I bought this DVD for my brother for christmas and is a great DVD for any cricket fan.
Introduced by Sir Ian Botham himself the DVD features BBC highlights from all five days of the Third Ashes Test Match between England and Australia at Headingley in 1981.
The Third Test at Headingley, found England - already one down in the six match series agasint Australia - in disarray. After poor performances, Ian Botham had resigned as captain and the selectors had recalled former skipper Mike Brearley to lead the side. Australia won the toss, and immediately set about attacking England's mediocre bowling. English cricketing fans feared the worst and this DVD tells the story of how one man inspired an unforgettable Test Series victory.
These highlights include Sir Ian Botham's 6 for 95 in Australia's 1st innings, 50 in England's 1st ...

and are chased by the police (a pack of wolves). Edmund disappears and makes his way to the White Witch's palace where he is imprisoned for not taking his brother and sisters with him.
Peter, Susan and Lucy discover that the only way to get Edmund back is to talk to Aslan, the true King of Narnia. Thus starts the voyage that will build bridges between brothers and make the children a closer family than ever before. Sorry but I'm not giving any more of the story away - that just would not be cricket!
DVD Extras
~~~~~~~~~
The extra features on this DVD are pretty self explanatory. These are:
* The bloopers of narnia - quite funny to see the mistakes made during filming but probably would be funnier for the kids! I did laugh at some but others could probably have been missed out.
* Director and Kid's Commentary - quite ...
