date, The Final Frontier might just have been the victim of bad press. Following in the wake of the massively successful fourth instalment The Voyage Home didn't help matters (notoriously, even-numbered entries are better), nor did having novice director and shameless egomaniac William Shatner at the helm. But if the story, conceived and cowritten by Shatner, teeters dangerously on the verge of being corny, it redeems itself with enough thought-provoking scenes in the best tradition of the series, and a surprisingly original finale. Granted there are a few too many yawning plot holes along the way, and the general tone is over-earnest (despite some painfully slapstick comedy moments), but the interaction of the central trio (Kirk, Spock and McCoy) is often funny and genuinely insightful; while Laurence Luckinbill is a charismatic adversary as the renegade Vulcan Sybok. The rest of the cast scarcely get a look in, and the special effects betray serious budgetary restrictions, but with a standout score from Jerry Goldsmith and a meaty philosophical premise to play around with, Star Trek V looks a lot more substantial in retrospect. Certainly it's no worse than either Generations or Insurrection, the next "odd-numbered" entries in the series. --Mark Walker

Advantages: Refreshingly different. Disadvantages: Pitiful extra features.
...So we reach Star Trek 9 and by all rights you would think that it should be time to call it day. Fortunately Insurrection absolutely oozes originality.
It is a credit to all that the decision was made to take a risk and not go for the easy win action feature.
Complemented by excellent acting from the great ensemble cast, you will laugh and in places even be moved.
It is a slight shame that the extra features amount to a rather pitiful television extended trailer. I'm sure that somebody could have been a little bit more creative....

Advantages: More than just the episodes on the disk Disadvantages: short(ish) running time
...I decided to buy Catch a falling star after watching (and liking) noddy on channel 5 one morning. Needless to say, the DVD doesn't disappoint, and it's the only thing that keeps my 3 yr old quiet for an hour! The DVD features 6 episodes, with the all important episode selection. (My son just wanted to watch the same episode over and over, so very handy not to have to skip all the way through the rest.) It also features a find noddy game and if you pop the disk into the computer you can print out and colour in Noddy and Friends. So all in all fairly good value for money. The only complaint I have (and it's a fairly small one) is that it's only got an hour running time,so can feel a little short, which usually means watching it all over again!...

Advantages: Brings Back Star Wars Disadvantages: Not as good as o
...When i ordered this dvd i wasnt sure what to expect, being a family guy and star wars fan i thought the two together would mix well. Upon watching this i found it rather funny, although not as good as the real star wars it added the qualities that we love in family guy to a very popular film.
Id love to see the other star wars films made into a family gut episode as i believe they would improve the Star Wars fanbase. I hope that Star Wars doesnt start to die out and Family Guy has not only inproved the fanbase but keeps the Story alive for years to come.
I would recommend this dvd for anyone who likes Star Wars, Family Guy or even anyone who likes cartoon comedy....

Advantages: Being a Star Trek movie! Disadvantages: Being the second of the series when it should have been the 1st
...with out a doubt this installment of the star trek movie series is a definite improvement on the previous film "the Motion Picture". probably not one of the best of the star trek saga but definitely not the worst either. the film brings back an early character of the star trek the original series tv series, KHAN!!!!!!!!! he comes back from a previous episode called "space Seed" to haunt kirk and once again try to take over the Enterprise, which eventually he succeeds in doing only to realise that kirk has set the Auto Destruct. all in all a great film to watch and definitely a star trek classic that you will want to watch over and over again. star trek 3 lead on from this movie so it is better to watch the films in order for the best star trek experience...
