Advantages: Hilarious comedy, good viewing
Disadvantages: only 3 episodes, expensive to buy whole set individually

Another installement to my DVD collection - the epic and classic comedy hero - Mr Bean. I love Rowan Atkinson, especially in Black Adder and also in the classic Mr Bean episodes. Despite my mood before hand, after watching Mr Bean I always feel much better, he always manages to intrigue my imagination with his biazarre mannerisms and abilty to turn the most straight forward of tasks into complete disaters! Having not being able to buy the whollebox set I have had to purchase and review each DVD volume one by one. This DVD contains 3 episodes, each with 3 or 4 sketches in them. All of whihc are brilliant and this DVD includes one of my favourites - the one where he goes to the swimming pool and clings to the diving board. The three episodes are entitled: Episode 1. Mr Bean - The Animated Series - Vol. 1 DVD

Advantages: distracts the children
Disadvantages: not funny, humour very simple and mostly slapstick or toilet houmour.

and has ruined the image of Mr Bean for me. At first I was curious and quite excited - I had hoped the comedy would be on the same lines as the original but I was wrong. The soundtrack is mostly orchestral with symbols, drums and flutes to emphasise dramtic turn arounds and Beans thoughts. The vocals, as the televised original series is basically mumbles and whimpers with the odd 'ooooo' sound. Another thing that irritates me is the fact that they have tried to modernise him and have given him a girl friend, not that that ever get together, lord no, what would happen to teddy, where would he sleep!? Irma Gobb is more a romantic interst whom Bean tries to impress, but rarely suceeds. In this single DVD volume you get 8 episodes, each lasting about 15minutes in length and include; 'In The Wild', 'Missing Teddy', 'No Parking', 'Bean's Bounty ...

Review of Mr Bean - The Animated Series Vol.1 (DVD)

CSI: New York - Sereis 1, Vol 2, Unmissable

Advantages: Rivetting, dark Drama
Disadvantages: None for me as a CSI fan.

CSI started out with CSI: Vegas, and this is the 2nd spin off from that. The main difference with this compared to the other 2 programs is that it is undeniably darker in tone, grittier and gloomy. You soon find out that the lead CSI is a no-nonsense First Grade Detective Mac Taylor played by Gary Sinise. Mac is a former Marine from Chicago, and he is a someone who works to the rules, but has little time for bureaucracy, which can cause him problems with his superiors. But his ability in the field and leadership quality is such that he is tolerated. His attention to detail is second to none and it pays off a number of times. This quality to details is also something he presses his staff to maintain.
