The Specialist / Assassins DVD

Advantages: Lots of special effects
Disadvantages: A bit over the top

...The Specialist is about a specialist bomb maker, who is Sylvester Stalone. He is hired by Sharon Stone, who years before saw her family murdered. She wants her boyfriend and his friends, who were the killer of her parents, dead. Stalone does this for her and is then tracked down by police to where he is living. He blows up his own home and makes a getaway. After which he then kills Sharon Stone's boyfriends father as he was the person that was responsible for Sharon Stone's family dying. There is plenty of explosions and action in this film to keep anybody entertained, but sometimes it can be just a bit over the top. Not too bad though.... Read review

Advantages: Action packed at times, stunning graphics
Disadvantages: if you blink half way through, you might miss the plot

...If you like space battle films with a clash of mystery, then this is the film for you. From the starting scenes, you can tell there is something wrong. Planet Earth has vastly become overpopulated, so humans ventured out into another solar system with a number of habital planets. However there was a civil war between the planets and the results were devastating. Amist all this afray there is a mystery. A deadly assassin has set off to eliminate the biggest threat to the alliance....a teenager girl with extraordinary capabilities and a mission to unleash the truth about a starved out planet and how the habitants perished. Will the assassin suceed? Can the girl's friends protect her? Can the girl succeed in her mission whilst under attack by assassins and 'Reavers'? You are just gonna have to wait and see :-)... Advantages: Great action, great music
Disadvantages: Bot over the top with the bloody (scuse the swearing pun) scenes

...I went to my local Odeon and saw the film "Kill Bill". I wasn't sure what kind of film it would be but, I wasn't disappointed. This is about a pregnant woman who is an assassin assaulted at her wedding, resulting in the loss of her baby. After four years in a coma, she wakes up and is searching for the other assassins for revenge. Some of the scenes are quite violent, including the sword fight in Japan but I think the blood sparing everywhere is a bit OTT. I think there must be a sequel following this film, I am not sure if there was one before it. Ulma Thurman is a great actress, so is Lucy Lie. This is one I might add to my DVD collection....
