A friend recently pointed out to me that she had never seen the sound of music and I must say that I was appalled and immediately coerced her into it. As I have said in the title it truly is a must see film! It was ahead of it's time in many ways and I can honestly say that it matches up to modern day films in almost every way. The storyline is gripping, as is the fact that it is a musical. Before watching the sound of music I had always been a little, if not a lot, condescending towards lovers of musicals, but I have to say this completely changed my outlook. The characters alone are enough to draw you into this film, even if the soundtrack was atrocious, but I have to say it is a credit to this film even to those who dislike musicals. I would recommend this film to anyone, whatever age, whatever their tastes and wherever they are from.
