The Snowman. I remember watching this film many years ago, and as I was bay sitting my nephew and niece before Christmas I thought what a delightful film to rent out, I was a bit concerned that they may find it a bit dated now, but I must admit they were completely enthralled in it from beginning to end.
Introduced by Singing legend David Bowie, And written by Raymond Briggs, this is a delightful tale of a young boy, who upon one snowy night makes a Snowman, only to find with a touch of Christmas magic, later that night the Snowman comes to life.
Making himself known to the boy, the lad invites him into the house, a host of hilarity takes place as the Snowman tries out some of Mothers clothes and Dads pipe, but very nearly disaster strikes as the Snowman goes to warm his bum by the fire. They decide its better to venture outside and soon set of on a wondrous journey. Fun and frolics abound, including a mad motorbike ride, and a flight to remember over hill and dale to the sound of ' Were Walking in the Air' of Aled Jones fame, but it must be noted he is not the singer on the movie.
The Snowman shows the boy a night to remember, Dancing the night away at the annual snowman's Ball, and meeting the Bigman himself Father Christmas.
This movie maybe close to it's sell by date, but I'm sure there's still a lot of mileage left in it yet,
As the Magic of Christmas never dies, And who doesn't love a Snowman.
My Nephews and Nieces certainly do.
Available at all good outlets and rental shops. Costs vary from £4.99 to £12.99, there are some good deals around coupling this movie with the other Raymond Briggs Christmas film Father Christmas on one DVD so shop around.

Advantages: I will never get bored of watching 'The Snowman'; a beautiful Chirstmas tradition Disadvantages: Some may be annoyed that it has no dialogue, the animation may seem dated
