The Simpsons: Treehouse of Horror is a collection of the "Treehouse of Horror" specials from The Simpsons. The episodes included are "Treehouse of Horror V", "Treehouse of Horror VI", "Treehouse of Horror VII" and "Treehouse of Horror XII".
"Treehouse of Horror V", as with every TOH episode, has three mini stories. In this episode, Homer takes his family up to a hotel in the mountains and goes insane in "The Shinning" (one of the best TOH stories of all time), Homer travels through time and changes history in "Time and Punishment", and in "Nightmare Cafeteria", Principal Skinner finds a solution to the overcrowding in his school and the shortage of meat in the cafeteria...
"Treehouse of Horror VI" includes "Attack of the 50 Foot Eyesores", where all the giant advertisements in Springfield come to life and start eating everyone, "Nightmare on Evergreen Terrace", in which Groundskeeper Willy dies and comes back to invade the nightmares of the children of the people who completely ignored his cries of help, and "Homer3", Homer travels to a strange universe with 3 dimensions and eventually ends up in the most terrifying universe: ours.
"Treehouse of Horror VII" has "The Thing and I", in which Bart and Lisa discover Bart's Siamese twin, who plans to sow them back together, "The Genesis Tub", where Lisa's science experiment goes a little awry and she ends up creating life, who all think she is god, and "Citizen Kang", in which Kang and Kodos abduct Homer and take him to Washington where they capture Bill Clinton and Bob Dole and take their place, knowing that one of them will win the election.
Finally, in "Treehouse of Horror XII" we have "Hex and the City", in which a gypsy, angry at Homer for wrecking her place, puts a curse on his family and the people he cares about, "House of Whacks", where the Simpsons upgrade their house with a computer that takes care of everything, but it soon starts to take an unhealthy interest in Marge, and "Wiz Kids", a spoof on Harry Potter, where Bart and Lisa are attending wizard school, and we are introduced to Lord Montymort and Slithers, who plan to capture Lisa so Montymort can take her essence and make himself more powerful.
I love these specials, being a fan of Horror and Sci-Fi films, I love when they spoof famous films like "The Shining" and. They always seem to give a little extra to these specials, and they look like they're having a lot of fun making them as well. And as these episodes don't have to adhere to the series' rules of continuity, they can kill off whoever they want!
Extras are unsurprisingly sparse, with only a 'Kang and Kodos' Featurette included here. If it's extras you want the season box sets are your best bet, they have commentaries, TV spots, storyboards and a lot more!
Overall a great collection of episodes, if they ever release all of them in a big DVD set, I'll be the first in line to buy them! Five stars.
Advantages: All simpsons episodes are good, I suppose. Disadvantages: Not very scary.
...Personally, I find most of the halloween specials of The Simpsons quite boring and not very scary. Some can be quite good, though.
Treehouse of Horror V
This episode is one of the best halloween specials, in my opinion. It is really funny at points. In all three stories, Groundskeeper Willie is killed while trying to help the Simpsons out of tricky situations. In the second story, Homer goes time travelling which seemed to me to be too science ... ...found that all the episodes were not scary at all and were all science fiction. I didn't really like this episode but my little sister enjoyed it so maybe others will.
Treehouse of Horror VII
This episode was one I found particularly un-scary. By now you probably realise that the Treehouse of Horror episodes lack what the title claims they have - Horror!
Treehouse of Horror XII
Gypsy curses, demented computers and wizards... seems ...

...The Simpsons - Classics - The Simpsons.com is part of the Simpsons 'Classics' series of DVD releases. There are four episodes included here, each with a mechanical/technological theme. The four episodes are "Treehouse of Horror X", "Itchy and Scratchy Land", "Das Bus" and "Homer Goes to College".
"Treehouse of Horror X" includes three terrifying stories, "I Know What You Diddily-Iddly-Did", when the family runs over Ned Flanders, but he comes back from the dead and starts hunting them, "Desperately Xeeking Xena", where Lisa and Bart become superheroes and fight comic book guy (a.k.a. "The Collector"), and "Life's a Glitch, Then You Die", where Homer fails to do his job as the nuclear plants Y2K compliance officer, which spreads the bug to every computer in the world and causes massive devastation.

Advantages: Newer episodes of the Simpsons Disadvantages: Some episodes funnier then others
...Another classic SimpsonsDVD containing another four classic episodes, including Treehouse of Horror X from season 11, Homer Goes to College from season 5, Itchy and Scratchy Land from season 6 and Das Bus from season 10. The theme of these four Simpsons episodes is to do with computers going haywire or being used wrongly. The best of these episodes is the brilliant Itchy and Scratchy Land and also the very funny Homer Goes to College, which contain a number of bellyaching laughs. The other two episodes are not quite as funny, but still watchable, particularly the Homer scenes in Das Bus.
In 'Treehouse of Horror X', we are again treated to three different scary tales. In the first tale, the Simpsons are driving along a lonely stretch of road when Marge accidentally runs over Ned Flanders, killing him. After the family trick Maude...

The Simpsons get gruesome in these hideous yet hilarious "Treehouse of Horror" Halloween specials. The collection features a homicidal house in "House of Whacks," a homicidal Homer in "The Shinning," and a homicidal Groundskeeper Willie in "Nightmare on Evergreen Terrace."
