This is a video containing four great episodes from the hit cartoon series, The Simpsons! The four episodes are Homer's Night Out, Homer The Moe, Sunday Cruddy Sunday and The Mansion Family. Here is a review of each of episodes and my opinion on each and on this video as a whole.
Episode Information *************************
Here are the lists of episodes with information about the story lines, original air dates, writers and directors of each of the episodes and my personal opinion on each. There are in order of how they appear on the video. They act as a memory refresher to those of you who have seen them and a taster for those of you who haven't.
[7G10] ? Homer's Night Out Original Air Date: 25 Mar 90 Written By: Jon Vitti Directed By: Rich Moore Special Guest: Sam McMurray (Gulliver Dark) Story Line: Bart buys a mail order spy camera. Bart takes a picture of Homer mid belly dance with exotic Princess Kashmir. Homer has to teach Bart that women are not
sex objects and then she will forgive him. My Opinion: This great early episode from the first season of the Simpsons and is definitely worth seeing! The animation is not the best produced but this is where it all started out. This episode is available on the first season DVD so if you want more episodes and are willing to pay a little bit more out to start, then the DVD is probably the best way to go now.
[CABF20] ? Homer the Moe Original Air Date: 18 Nov 2001 Written By: Dana Gould Directed By: Jen Kamerman Special Guest: R.E.M Story Line: Moe goes off to bar tending school and Homer is left to run Moe's Tavern. Once Moe returns, Moe makes his tavern hip and new and Homer doesn't like it so, Homer starts a bar in his family garage. My Opinion: Excellent episode where we get to see a lot more of Moe, there are some really goods jokes and the story line is pretty good.
[AABF08] - Sunday, Cruddy Sunday Original Air Date: 31 Jan 99 Written By: Tom Martin, George Meyer, Brian Scully and Mike Scully Directed By: Steven Dean Moore Special Guests: Fred Willard (Wally Krogen), Rosey Grier, Troy Aikman, Dan Marino, Pat Summerall, John Madden, Dolly Parton and Rupert Murdoch. Story Line: Homer's new friend Wally Kogen can get tickets to the ball game and with a coach load of their mates, they head off. Wally's tickets are fakes and they have to find another way of getting in. My Opinion: Excellent episode, not one of my favourites but still very good.
[BABF08] ? The Mansion Family Original Air Date: 23 Jan 2000 Written By: John Swartzwelder Directed By: Michael Polcino Special Guest: Britney Spears (Herself) Story Line: Mr Burns is recognised as the town's oldest man and when he goes off to the Mayo Clinic for a check up he puts Homer in charge of looking after his mansion. My Opinion: Great seeing a top star like Britney Spears appear in an episode of the Simpsons, even though her character in this isn't exactly outstanding! A nice little story line and one I'm glad to have eventually seen.
Conclusion *************
These are some really good episodes included on this instalment of the Simpsons. When I first brought this video I had only seen one of the four episodes so it was a nice surprise to have three episodes I had never seen before. Never had Sky for a couple of years so I missed out of loads of episodes!
Like every other DVD and video released, these items are great when you start building a collection and having episodes to watch over and over again. Just wish they would include more episodes on the videos. The first season box set includes one of the episodes above, but if you want to see more episodes go for the complete box set, but if you need to see the later season episodes, buy this video! Because they are not going to be on a box set for quite a few years yet!
This video is now also available on DVD, so if you are looking for better quality viewing, the DVD will be a better choice for you. They can be quite cheap if you shop around. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys watching the Simpsons as this video has some of the story lines and jokes that make you a Simpson's fan!
