"Homer's Night Out" has Bart mailing off for a CIA camera after an ad he saw in the back of one of his comic books. He uses it to great aplomb, taking a picture of Homer when he is cavorting around with an erotic dancer. Soon the photo has spread around the whole town and it's only a matter of time before it ends up in the hands of Marge! An enjoyable very early episode, it highlights the trouble a marriage sometimes go through, but Marge and Homer are meant to be, and you know they'll always end up back together with a bond stronger than ever.
In "Homer the Moe" Homer stands in at Moe's Tavern while Moe goes away to try and find his zest for the business again. When he gets back he transforms his bar into a lush, ultra cool swanky nightclub, tossing out his old regulars, who all go to Homer's new bar in his garage. With the guest voices of REM, this has some sharp writing for a post-golden age Simpsons episode; although it is starting to go into random, needless things happening for no reason era it still seems to be stuck in.
"Sunday Cruddy Sunday" has Homer and a bunch of other Springfieldians going to the Superbowl only to find out they've been sold fake tickets and find themselves spending the game in Superbowl prison! Probably the dream episode for American Football fans, it includes Dan Marino, Troy Aikman and John Madden. Again this delves a little into the 'completely stupid' tank a lot of newer Simpsons episodes have been guilty of, but there is still enough here to keep you entertained, along with a nice sub-story about Lisa and Marge spending some quality time together.
Finally, in "The Mansion Family", Mr. Burns goes to get himself checked out at the Mayo Clinic after being awarded Springfield's Oldest Man. He leaves his mansion in the capable hands of, who else, Homer. This all proves too much temptation for Homer who stars living life as a billionaire, but also proves to be destructive along the way. I do like this episode as I've often wondered what it would be like to live with nearly unlimited resources, and Homer makes it seem like a lot of fun! He's like a kid really, calling as many countries as he can, and borrowing Burns' yacht just so he can drink before 2pm on a Sunday, classic Homer stupidity.
No extras, and only worth buying if you're a completist and want to own all the different Simpsons compilations. Buy the seasons instead; they're much better value for money.
