Here is the fourth instalment of the Simpsons! Every episode from season four put into one collection, not only that, there is a selection of special features that are sure to keep you entertained. If only there was enough time to sit and watch them all at once. This is the season that the episodes are really start to peek and are defining why the Simpsons are so brilliant. One of my personal favourites is the Whacking Day episode in which Barry White makes a guest appearance, if you're a fan you will know this episode and will find it amusing.
Features
This collection of timeless classics is spread over four disks, which include the episodes, commentaries, featurettes, deleted scenes (interesting!) and Easter eggs. An Easter egg is an amusing addition that creators sometimes put into there work that is not blatant but once pointed out you can't fail to spot it. http://www.eeggs.com has more information on Easter Eggs, if you're sad like me then you will love the Easter eggs parts of the DVD. This is a feature that have been on previous releases and are always a great addition.

8F23 - Brother Can You Spare Two Dimes, Homer's half brother Herb Powell returns
into Homer's life. Herb is trying to patent a unique baby talk translating machine, he needs to money and it just so happens that Homer has just won $2000.

9F02 - Lisa the Beauty Queen, Lisa has a caricature drawn of her and the exaggeration of her features convinces her of her ugliness. To boost her confidence Homer enters her a beauty pageant.
9F04 - Treehouse of Horror III, Three more tales of terror. In 'Clown Without Pity', Homer is pursued by a cursed Krusty doll. 'King Homer' sees Marge joining up for an expedition to the tropics and 'Dial Z for Zombies' is story about Springfield being over run by the living dead.
9F03 - Itchy & Scratchy: The Movie, Bart's behaving very badly and Homer won't punish him. Marge forces Homer to punish Bart, so Homer comes up with the almighty punishment...Bart is not allowed to see the Itchy & Scratchy Movie.
9F05 - Marge gets a Job, The Simpsons family home is sinking so to be able to pay for repairs Marge has to get a job. She finds a job at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, Mr Burns is smitten and has Tom Jones perform for Marge.
9F06 - New Kid on the Block, The Winfields move away and the Powers move in. Bart is attracted to Laura Powers immediately, while Marge befriends single mum, Ruth Powers. Bart thinks he is getting somewhere with Laura, until he finds out that Laura has a boyfriend, Jimbo Jones! Bart becomes very jealous and has to get back at Jimbo.
9F07 - Mr. Plow, Springfield is buried under snow and Homer realised this is a great opportunity to start his own business, Mr Plow. He ploughs people's driveways and business is booming until the Plow King (Barney Gumble) comes on the scene.
9F08 - Lisa's First Word, The Simpsons are trying to get Maggie to talk. Homer and Marge reminiscence about Bart and Lisa growing up.
9F09 - Homer's Triple Bypass, All the years of Homer's bad eating habits have caught up with him. A massive heart attack will mean massively expensive surgery, unless he can go to Dr. Nick Riviera who has a special deal of $129.95 for any operation.
9F10 - Marge vs. the Monorail, Springfield's town council comes into a couple of million dollars and a debate is raised on how the money should be spent on helping the town. They decide to give the money to Lyle Lanley who promises to build Springfield a monorail and put them on the map.
9F11 - Selma's Choice, After the death of Gladys Bouvier, Selma begins to think that she really needs children. When Homer falls ill from eating a week old, foot long hoagie, Selma tests her suitability as a family woman by taking Bart, Lisa and Maggie to Duff Gardens, where Bart is nearly decapitated. While Lisa falls under the spell of a dangerous narcotic found in one of the rides water.
9F12 - Brother from the Same Planet, Bart feels neglected by Homer and applies to the Bigger Brothers agency for a replacement role model. Krusty's show is cancelled and Bart and Lisa plan a comeback show for Krusty that includes a lot of his celebrity friends.
Special Guests
Here is a list of special guest starts from the season, the Simpsons always have some great special guests and even to this day, celebrities are on the waiting list to appear. Listen out for the voices in the episodes and see how good these people look cartoonised!
Danny DeVito Joe Frazier Jon Lovitz Bob Hope Neil Armstrong Tom Jones Sarah Gilbert Pamela Reed Linda Ronstadt Adam Wes Elizabeth Taylor Leonard Nimoy Dr. Joyce Brothers Brooke Shields Barry White David Crosby Johnny Carson Bette Midler Luke Perry Hugh Hefner Red Hot Chili Peppers
Conclusion
This is the latest season released from the FOX broadcasting company and is one of the best in way of quality of story lines. The design of the box is kept the same as the previous DVD's and looks great. There is not enough time in one sitting to watch everything on this collection, which is a good thing and makes it value for money. Any Simpsons fan will enjoy, if not buying it for you, buy it as a gift, it will be greatly appreciated.
All the blackboard and couch gags are left in, so you can see what ones you might have missed through the television channels leaving them out so the episodes fit in their spot on their screening schedules
When comparing the DVD to the video's that include The Simpsons episodes the DVD is so much better, with the DVD you have loads of episodes, special features and the DVD is easier to store and doesn't take as much space up when storing them. The videos have newer episodes but are only limited to about 4 per video, but that is where the waiting game comes in, waiting for the DVD collections of later seasons! Roll on The Complete 5th Season DVD!
As for price, it pays to shop around, especially on the Internet as the price changes all the time and with the news of the 5th season DVD to be released, the price has taken another drop recently at amazon.co.uk. Make this part of your collection.
