The Simpsons first season DVD is one that any Simpsons fan should own. It has all the great episodes of the first season, which started off the Simpsons phenomenon. It's not only a chance to have thirteen episodes to hand, so you can watch them whenever you want, but it is bundled with loads of special features. So if you're a Simpson's fan, why don't you own this already!
DVD Features
Thirteen episodes, on 3 three disks. You will be able to read about the episodes in this review, covering the story lines and acting as a memory refresher to those who are thinking about purchasing this collector's item.
Each of the three disks offers commentaries on each episode, by the creators of the Simpsons. This is interesting to see how each episode was done as it was and how things have improved as time has gone on. The first, second and third disk all include some original scripts, good for the viewers that are a fanatic of the Simpsons who want to know how episodes are laid out.
The third disk is the one that includes most of the special features and you will find that there are loads to get through. Choose from out takes, a BBC special on America's first family and ABC news report on the Bart Simpson T-shirt controversy. The very first Simpsons episode, "Good Night Simpsons", that was show during the time when the Simpsons appeared as short
clips on the Tracey Ullman Show. The animation has come a long way since then, this is so worth watching, you'll be amazed at how these crappy cartoons went on the become the greatest cartoon show of all time! Don't forget to watch the unaired episode and foreign language clips (foreign language clips? Just a glimpse into how big the Simpsons have become)
There are also still galleries that include early sketches of the Simpsons, current pictures of the Simpsons and magazine covers. All the features are accessed through the main menu, of which is designed to keep within the theme of the Simpsons and is very easy to navigate.

Conclusion
This is a great box set DVD, if it weren't brought for me as a gift, I would have brought it. I have started collecting all the Simpsons box sets and they are all as good as the first. I own a Simpson's web site and when the news about the DVD being released was circulating, this was big news and the main subject of conversation was what was going to be included as special features. This DVD has some very interesting features but would have been better if there included some more episodes from the Tracey Ullman show, this were really fun.
The first one is well designed, with your usual folder DVD box that holds the DVD's. The colour of the box changes as the newer seasons are released. The episodes included are ones that I have seen loads of time on television and other Simpsons fans have too, but the special features are worth witnessing.
The price for this set is getting lower and lowers all the time, and it pays to shop around. This makes an enjoyable buy!
