More and more Dvds are begging to come out form you favorite television shows (Red Dwarf,Futurama, The Officie, Alan Partridge, etc...) so it was only write that Matt Groening should bring one out entitled "The Simpsons Complete first season" I bought my version from America so it's region 1 and that will be the version I will be comentating upon.
It comes with three disk containing all 13 episodes from season 1. The case I believe is quite an attractive silver case, as far as box sets go. The disks are presented in a three fold case and is accompanied by a booklet with a description of every episode.
The following are the 13 episodes from season 1:
Simpsons Roasting On An Open Fire - This is the first episode and one of my favorites. Its the one where the simpsons come across Santa's Little Helper.
Bart the Genius- Not as good animation as the first episode but still ok. Bart swaps IQ tests with Martin, and gets moves to a special school for the gifted.
Homers Odyssey- This is not one of my favorite episodes, Homer gets fired.
Theres No Disgrace Like Home- Good episode. Homer realizes his family isn't quite normal so he takes them to Dr. Marvin Munro therapy clinic.
Bart the General- The first episode staring Nelson. Bart is being bullied by the school yard bully Nelson. So he gets his fellow classmates to stand up to him.
Moaning Lisa- First episode with Bleeding Gums Murphy. Lisa is feeling "sad" and one night she goes out and meats Bleeding Gums Murphy where he teachers her to play the blues.
Call of the Simpsons- The first episode I ever saw. Homer purchases an r.v to try and outstage Flanders, but it's a wreck. So they take a camping trip where they get stranded.
The Telltale Head- The first mention of jebediah Springfield. Bart cuts of the head of the beloved town statue, jebediah Springfield, to impress some youths.
Life on the Fast Lane- Not one of my favorite episodes but still good. Marge takes bowling lesson buy a Frenchman, upon who she contemplates having an affair.
Homers Night Out- Homer gets caught in the act dancing with an exotic dancer at a bachelor party.
The Crepes of Wrath- Bart gets shipped off to France in an exchange program where he is being taken advantage of, And homer takes a shining to the foreign exchange student.
Krusty Gets Busted- Krusty get framed for robbing the Kwick "e" mart, and it is up to bart and lisa to prove his innocence.
Some Enchanted Evening- Homer and Marge hire the baby-sitter bandit to baby-sit Bart, Lisa, and Maggie.
I believe the first season is not the best one but still excellent as it has all the classic episodes and introduces all of the characters.
The episodes are shown in fullscreen format but still come out good in a widescreen television. The episodes are also now presented in Dolby digital 5.1. Although surround sound is meant mainly for films I still prefer watching the episodes in Surround sound.
For the extras they have the scripts for the following episodes: BART THE GENIUS MOANING LISA BART THE GENERAL SOME ENCHATNED EVENEING They have audio comentary from the creator Matt Groening to accompany each episode. They have the outtakes which I believe are hilarious. I think these are more than enough extras but they could have done with adding more simpsons shorts as there was only 1 but they could have added the whole 1st series of shorts. Anyway thats just my opinion.
So I believe the DVD is a must have for all simpsons f ans. The presentation case was nice, the extras are superb and well its the simpsons- need I say more. The cost is about £20 region 1 (that's why I got mine region 1) and about £30 region 2.

Advantages: Great if you like the Simpsons (obviously), I got it for very cheap Disadvantages: It's not cheap everywhere, has a different feel to later series.
