As the name of the DVD says, it's the Simpsons greatest hits. The episodes on the DVD are probably the most well known of them all and probably the most popular. The episodes that are on it are:
-The Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire -Sweet Seymour Skinner's Baadassss Song -Trash of the Titans -Bart gets an F -Lisa's first word.
Information of the episodes and my opinions of each episode are below:
-The Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire:
This is the very first ever episode of the Simpsons, and probably one of the best. So, the story is, Bart gets a tattoo, even though he was told not to, and Marge has to spend all of the Christmas money to get it removed, which leaves them with nothing, as Homer doesn't receive his Christmas bonus this year. So, after finding out that he wont be getting his bonus, Homer gets a job at a department store as Santa for the little kids. But he only receives $13, which leaves Christmas looking very dull for them. But he doesn't tell the family, except Bart, who persuades Homer to go down to the dog races, and bet the money, which he loses. After the race, Homer and Bart leave the dog track, and see a dog being left by its owner. Bart persuades Homer to keep the dog, and they do home, and the family say that its the best Christmas ever, and that the dog is the best present they could have. The dog is Santa's Little Helper by the
way. Its a Chrsitmas classic. Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without that episode.
This is the 100th episode of the Simpsons. The story: Bart takes the dog (Santa's little helper) into school for show and tell, but when he puts him in the cupboard, the dog goes into the air vent, and causes havoc in the school. Groundskeeper Willy goes up to get the dog out, but the air vents all collapse, and super intendant chalmers fires Skinner. Ned Flanders gets put in replacement of Skinner, but he makes the school to friendly. Bart and Skinner become friends and they join forces to try and get Skinner his job back. When super intendant chalmers sees what Ned is doing to the school, he puts Principal Skinner back in charge straight away.
This is the 200th Episode of the Simpsons. Homer has a go at the garbagemen when they don't take his trash out. He decides he would rather live in a dump that in a world that is run by snooty garbagemen. The garbagemen refuse to take the Simpson's trash until Homer apologises for insulting them, but Homer's having none of it, and we wont apologize. Marge send a letter in addressed from Homer, that apologizes for insulting them, but when Homer finds out he is outraged, and complains to the Sanitatiion Commisioner Ray Patterson. Homer decides to run up for Sanitation Commisioner against Patterson, and promises all these crazy things. Homer wins the election, but due to the fact that the garbagemen do all these crazy things for the people of Springfield, including washing cars, he goes through his $4.6 million annual budget in only a month, and he is forced tofind other ways to finance his schemes. He ends up letting all different cities dump their trash in Springfield mines, which eventually all get full up, and the city is destroyed, so Homer is fired, and Mayor Quimby decides that they sould just move the city somewhere else, so thats what they do, they move the city.
This is the Simpsons episode with the highest ratings in the US. If bart doesn't pass history, then he will be getting held back a year. He id desperate not to go to school so he does't have to do the test, he asks Otto to crash the school bus, and even joins forces with Martin Prince to teach him more things to help him. But Martin goes against work, and isnt interested in school anymore, so bart is screwed. That night, Bart prays for something to happen the next day, and when he wakes up, its snowing, and the school has been closed for the day. So Bart stays at home all day to study. The next day, Bart takes the test, but still fails, but when he starts going on about all this clever stuff to Mrs.Krabbappel, she passes him on the test.
This episode is the one where Maggie speaks for the first time. Bart and Lisa hear the story about when they were both born, and how Bart used to be jealous of Lisa because she would get all of the attention, but how Bart grew to love her. Later in the episode, Homer is putting Maggie to bed, and when he leaves the room, Maggie says her first word, "Dadda".
I really like this episode as it always reminds me of Christmas when i watch, and its a really good episode, it teaches you that you don't need money to be happy, and good things still can happen.
-Sweet Seymour Skinner's Baadassss Song:
This is probably my least favourite on the DVD, but i still like it a lot, it shows Bart can have a kind side aswell as him rebellious child-like ways.
-Trash of the Titans:
I like this episode alot and find it really funny, i might be sad but i really like the songs about the trash aswell. (yeh ur thinking- 'looooser!')
-Bart gets an F:
this episode reminds me of me a bit and when i ever do crap at school and get low grades but always manage to pick myself up from it.
-Lisa's First Word: I also really like this episode, bacuase it tells us stories about how the Simpsons first started out and how they kids were born, and i relly like the episodes that tell us something about how stuff happened that is before the time the program actually started.
If your a Simpsons fan then i definately reccommend you to buy it if you dont have it already, and even if your not really a Simpsons fan, i still think most people should enjoy it.
