version of "Insane in the Membrane" and watch The Who destroying rubbish with pure guitar power. It also features guest performances by The Who, Cypress Hill, The Smashing Pumpkins, Peter Frampton and Spinal Tap.In "Homerpalooza", Homer has a mini mid-life crisis caused by his inability to recognise new bands in the local record store (not even Sonic Youth). The result is a trip for him and the kids to the "Hullabalooza" festival where Homer fulfils his rock star dreams by touring as part of the freak show. "A Tale of Two Springfields" sees the town divided by a change in area code, which only The Who can solve with their infinite wisdom: "Why don't you get phones with auto-dial?". In "The Otto Show" Milhouse and Bart enjoy their first outing to a rock gig to see top super-group, Spinal Tap. Finally, "Homer's Barbershop Quartet" offers the rare opportunity to see Homer sing as part of Springfield's B Sharps, who allegedly rocked America back in 1985!On the DVD:The Simpsons: Backstage Passoffers a collection of Otto's finest moments, proving what acoooolguy the local bus driver is. Otherwise the disc is barren of extras. Picture is standard 4:3 and you can choose between English, French and German audio languages with a vast range of European subtitle options. --Nikki Disney

"Homerpalooza" is one of my personal favourites and concerns Homer, who seems to be having a mid-life crisis, so he takes Bart and Lisa to the Hullabalooza festival where, through some bizarre coincidences that could only happen in The Simpsons, he gets to fulfill his rock star dreams by touring with the festival. The bands here are amazing, from classic rockers (Peter Frampton) to newer, indie rock (Sonic Youth, Smashing Pumpkins) and really shows the difference in musical tastes between then and when the show started, and also since Homer was a teenager as well.
"A Tale of Two Springfields" is about the phone company giving Springfield a new area code. Homer is incensed by this, and leads a revolt, taking whoever was left the old code (the poor people) with him. He appoints himself the mayor of "New Springfield" but all does not go well, and it's up to The Who to set things straight. The premise of this story is not a good one, but what the writers do with it is very well done. One of the better recent episodes, it has memorable moments like Homer not being able to differentiate between different classic songs and who sung them in his head, like asking them to perform "Pac-Man Fever".
"The Otto Show" guest stars the legends that are Spinal Tap. Bart and Millhouse enjoy their first rock concert seeing the tap, and Otto moves in with the Simpsons. Naturally, hilarity ensues. The Spinal Tap moments were just like the film, with the actors being pretentious, but kinda stupid as well so you don't hate them. This episode also sees the first appearance of Comic Book Guy, selling T-shirts at the concert. Also, for some reason Homer singing "Spanish Flea" makes me smile every time I see it.
Finally, "Homer's Barbershop Quartet" has Homer recounting the days when he was part of a Beatles-esque barbershop group with Skinner, Apu and Chief Wiggum (later to be replaced with Barney). This episodes guest stars George Harrison, probably one of my favourite guest stars, although Homer seems more interested in knowing where George got his brownie from. It also continues a trend of treating the Grammy award like a bad cold (Homer gives theirs away to the waiter, who is excited until he sees it's a Grammy and throws off the balcony). There's also a great spoof at the end where they all get together to sing their hit "Baby On Board" on top of Moe's bar to which George Harrison drives past and says "It's been done".
No extras, and rather expensive too. As good as some of the episodes are, they're not worth 15.99. Five stars for the episodes, but get a season, I recommend starting from the beginning and working your way forward, it only get better.
Advantages: Audio-visual equivalent of Prozac Disadvantages: Only lasts for 87 mins, costly if collecting
...every single VHS video in the collection and although I can't wait for the new releases, it's another £12.99 to shell out as well unfortunately.
Still, I don't mind The Simpsons money-machine taking my hard earned if the quality is of this standard every time. On this special musically themed video (as all the others, bar the series' are), the most amous family in the world become involved in different scenarios - each one hilarious.
In Episode ... ...divide in their town.
However, The Who (Roger Daltrey et al.) are booked to play Springfield and unfortunately for Homer, the Stadium they are to play is not in their territory. Episode closes The Who giving it stick...cool!!
Best Quotes are:
Moe on the telecommunications industry's area code.
"Homer's right, we're gettin' the Joan Collins special!"
Roger Daltrey on the problem.
"Why not buy phones with auto-ringer, or as you Yanks say, Speed-dial?"

Advantages: Four great episodes of the Simpsons and on DVD! Disadvantages: Only four episodes!
...music theme, four great episodes! The Simpsons have made a move from VHS and the producers have started to distribute episodes on DVD, which in my opinion is so much better. With the DVD version you have a lot better sound and colour quality, oh, and there's no rewinding! The episodes found on this DVD are Homerpalooza, A Tale of Two Springfields, The Otto Show and Homer's Barbershop quartet.
Here are the lists of episodes with information about ... ...each of the episodes and my personal opinion on each. There are in order of how they appear on the video. They act as a memory refresher to those of you who have seen them and a taster for those of you who
haven't.

...unfortuanatley this is not good. The episodes are certainly not the best and it kind of gets your mind saying why are these yellow blobbs that are crazy on my television screen as it is poor. There are some good bits in it but really, I don't like this DVD at all. It's the sort of one that some people will like and some people will not as it all depends if you actaully like The Simpsons or not as personally I am not that fond of them. However it's ...
