Advantages: Diaz and Collette work well together, a good chick flick Disadvantages: None
appropriate as there are some moderate sex references in the film.
The film was directed by Curtis Hanson and produced by Ridley Scott, Carol Freeman, Lisa Ellzey and Curtis Hanson. The DVD says that the film was based on a novel by Jennifer Weiner which I was not aware of but I will sure be looking out for the book.
There are some bonus features included on the DVD which are:-
The People in the Shoes Featurettes
A Community for Acting Seniors Featurettes
Casting of Honey Bun Featurettes
Inside Look: Just My Look.
I have not had the time to watch these bonus features but honestly they do not interest me in the slightest.
I picked my copy of the film up a few months ago for £4 in Sainsburys, it is around this price at most shops now.
I would definitely recommend this film to all fans of a good old chick flick. ...
Advantages: Good cast, great locations, brilliant clothes Disadvantages: Virtually no plot, perhaps too straight-forward
with her in the fact that she lives for fashion, she lives and breathes it and she is dedicated to the magazine.
Andy finds it hard to fit in with fashion and especially her colleague Emily (Emily Blunt, My Summer of Love), who loves the magazine and Miranda Priestly more than anyone. As Andy battles her way in the rigid world of fashion she has to take sacrifices but to what cost?
I loved this film, there is a plot but not a hint of sub-plots so it's pretty straight forward but the soundtrack is great, the settings in New York and Paris are stunningly shot and the clothes are amazing. There are a lot of shoe to face shots as the director, David Frankel, wanted people to see the shoes as well as the clothes and the performances are very good.
As for DVD Presentation/Features, the menus are easy to follow and the special ...
Advantages: Great acting performances. Good storyline. Disadvantages: Quite short for a feature length film.
I have never been a fan of British films, always preferring the big Hollywood blockbusters. One day at work I was talking about the film This Is England. I had watched it the night before and thought it was pretty good. One of my workmates then told me that the director Shane Meadows had also wrote and directed a film called Dead Mans Shoes and if I liked This Is England I should watch it.
I bought in on DVD from play.com for £4.99 so it was pretty cheap, even if it was rubbish I couldn?t really lose. The front cover of the DVD had two quotes from magazines. ?Dark, gritty, funny and chilling, and excruciatingly violent all at the same time? and ?taxi driver meets first blood in the Midlands. Compelling. Brilliant. Genius?. Both quotes along with the silhouette of a man holding an axe immediately grabbed my attention. The quotes were ...
