PACKAGING _________________________________
Another one of those annoying card boxes with a black plastic clip. Front has the picture of Jack Nicholson sticking his face through the bathroom door (Here's Johnny!) and back has pics and synopsis. Inside is a rather unflattering picture of Shelly Duvall (Wendy) and a list of scenes.
COMMENTS _______________________________
A great film from legendary director Stanley Kubrick who brought us such classics as 2001: A Space Oddysey and A Clockwork Orange. This film is his best as far as I'm concerned and the best film by far from the early eighties (1980).
The book is crap. Stephen King is crap but this film is a masterpiece. it's so tense you'll wet yourself and the performance from Jack Nicholson is awesome- you actually believe he's a madman (well, he doesn't need to act that much). It's just so eerie, his conversations with ghosts are great and the "here's Johnny" line will make you scream and smile at the same time.
Having praised the film so much, it has to be said that you'll either love it or you'll hate it. If you like action-packed thrillers then you should jolly well stay away. This plays with your mind, not your senses (although some of the sounds are great).
