Oh dear where do I start. Well having watched horrormovies for a long, long time and rarely felt more than a little tingle I must say this is the scariest thing ever. I have still not seen it to the end (no don't tell me how it ends). Jack Nicholson is a thoroughly unpleasent egotistical writer who is slowly going mad in a deserted haunted hotel. Perfect casting! His downtrodden wife and child witness his descent into madness with no means of escape. Even if you have read the book, prepare to be scared out of your wits. Not to be watched alone, and don't even think of watching it on a lonely cold winter night!
