This film, adapted for film from a show on Broadway by Director Billy Wilder, is a true classic and the film that made Marilyn Monroe a world-wide star.
The film really only has two Characters, Tom Ewell as a married man who's wife and son have gone away for the summer holidays, and Marilyn Monroe, as the girl who moves into the flat above him.
Tom Ewell's character instantly goes ga-ga the second he lays eyes on Marilyn, and what follows is a series of hysterical fantasies as he imagines seducing her in his appartment.
The seven year itch contains one of the most memorable scenes in the history of film. It occurs when Marilyn Monroe and Tom Ewell take a stroll in the New York Summer heat.
When director Billy Wilder thought up the concept of having Marilyn Monroe stand above an air vent in a Manhatten street one wonders if he realised what an impact it would have on Marilyn Monroe's career.
It was surely this film, and in particular this scene that put her on the way to becoming a world famous super-star and a legend in years to come.
If you have not seen this film, then you simply MUST see it as soon as you can, I assure you you will laugh dozens of times, and you will instantly fall in love with Marilyn Monroe as 'The Girl'
