I'm not a wrestling fan but I'm fully aware of who the rock is because everyone seems to keep on about him.
I enjoyed the mummy returns and when he was in that as the scorpion king I thought it was going to be a follow up from that.

So this was inspired by the hugely succesfull 'mummy series' and is a action packed epic adventure filled with spectacular stunts and fight sequences.

"the scorpion king "
********************

The Rock plays the part of Mathayus Kane. Kane is the youngest member of a legendary sect of warriors called the Akkadians, fierce fighters living in the Egyptian wilderness of 3000 B.C.

The Akkadians are hired by King Pheron, the ruler of the land of Ur, to stop the growing influence of Memnon, a warlord who's invading Pheron's territory. Memnon is feared not only because of his powerful army known as the Red Turbans, but also by having a mysterious individual called the "Sorcerer" at his right-hand side. Using unearthly powers to look into the future, the Sorceror can determine the outcomes of battles before they are fought and thus give the necessary information Memnon needs to overcome all his opposition. However, the night before Pheron's hired group of Akkadians enter battle against Memnon they are betrayed by one of their own. The only Akkadian to survive is the one called the Scorpion King...Kane.

After escaping from the slaughter, and uncovering a secret about the identity of Memnon's Sorcerer, Kane flees into the desert. There he meets a ne'er-do-well horse thief named Arpid and the two become companions, travelling to the city of Gomorrah, Memnon's seat of power. With assistance from a member of Memnon's key circle, Kane sneaks into Memnon's castle and...

Well, suffice to say that lots of action happens, the mystery of the Sorcerer is revealed to Kane, and he must seek a way to unite the nomadic tribes of the desert into one fighting force in order to topple Memnon's rule. It sounds like it's going to be a ball of fun.

good points
***********

This is a action packed film with great visual effects from start to finish. It has some comedy moments in there to give you a little chuckle.
Also the quality and quantity of the extra features is pretty amazing and its good to see a dvd with a lot added bonus material as it makes it a good purchase for your money.

*************
Best moment
*************

The biggest highlight of the film is the rumble between Michael and The Rock, in which some of the moves mock and copy modern day pro-wrestling maneuvers. It's a wonderful little in-joke.

*********
Bad points
***********

The story line was slightly weaker than I expected after enjoying the mummy series and hearing all the hype about this film. Also the film is quite short in running time which is quite disappointing.

**************
Final thoughts
**************

Painful to watch, to think about, to remember, to believe you bought the DVD . Stick with the Mummy and the Mummy Returns - this Scorpion King inflicts pain on everyone he meets but none more than the audience.

I thought this film was pretty weak and didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. It has no flow and it has no real story. It's a bad one folks.
But then again other people would totally disagree and say its great so once again its just personal choice . I love great action films but wasn't all that impressed although the effects was pretty good and some scenes were pretty action filled but nothing out of the ordinary.

Indeed, a lot of the plot for this movie got left on the cutting room floor, as is demonstrated in the "alternate scenes" section on the DVD.

I recommend this to anybody looking for a no-brainer movie with some fun scenes. But personally I say this is just a average movie and only catch it if you can.

Thanks for reading

stevo !!
