The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior. *********************************************
Introduction: * ************* The black scorpions hold sway over all other tribes, they are the greatest warriors ever to have held a sword.
They became prized as personal body guards. The most powerful black scorpion was Asher. But he did not want his son to become a black scorpion, his sons name was Mathayus.
Synopsis: *********** His father is killed by scorpion bites all over his body, scorpions sent using wizardry. This is the story of Mathayus becoming a warrior to avenge his fathers murder. We follow him as he trains to become a terrifyingly superb warrior and then take vengeance on his enemies. At this point you can probably see it's a standard sequel film.
Along the way there is sorcery, romance and the standard muscle men swinging big swords.
Mathayus refuses to kill his brother and becomes an outlaw. His first attempt to kill the newly crowned king fails as he discovers the king has a mysterious power at his command. But his brother is killed. Mathayus must now seek out a way past the magic so as to kill his enemy and avenge his father and brother.
From this point on it is similar to the original Scorpion King. Mathayus picks up a love interest and a sidekick as they travel to the underworld in search of the sword of Damocles.
Opinions: *********** It's a poor sequel, very poor. The acting is basic and the narrative and script is unmemorable.
The gyms must have been emptied out to find the actors for this film; they all have big biceps, shaven heads and deep voice, probably from all the steroids they have taken. Do not bother with it.
DVD Features: ***************** Deleted scenes. A featurette "The making of" An interview with UFC champion Randy Courture. Chapter Selection. Subtitle selection.
