To start off, a warning....watch the original japanese series first, because if you go to watch these after seeing the american remake first, sadly it'll take the edge off them a bit. They won't be as scary and you'll wish you'd seen them first. So on with the review...This is a masterpiece series in the making. It is very scary and deserves all the hype and praise it got. Gore Verbinski is also a master of horror filmography as he proves whilst directing this film, and this film is also appealing to all generations. It is a exciting premise and started the japanese remake explosion in the states at the moment....If you liked this then try the eye, juon:the grudge and dark water...all being remade, filmed, and awaiting release in hollywood as we speak!!

Advantages: I thought that the ring was scary, and i would recomend people to watch it. Disadvantages: The story is detailed and involves too much thinking.
