I love correctly well made Thriller. Such films, where under the blanket hides itself. Films, which let the blood in the veins freeze - and such a film I now would like to present you. On Thursday the 13,02,2003 "The ring" starts in Germany. I came yesterday evening into the benefit of this film and I am still very inspired.
The Story ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Everything begins completely harmlessly. Katie and her friend Rebecca make a beautiful evening and have much fun - then the discussion topic falls on videos. Katie tells her that she saw the video on weekend, according to which one is to die. Rebecca does not believe her that. Katie would not like to be considered as stupid, therefore they terminate the topic. Short time later Katie is alone in the living room. It happen strange things, which make Katie obviously fearful. She goes upward, in order to find assistance with Rebecca. But it is already
too late.
Days later is the funeral of Katie. She died with 16 at sudden heart stop and was completely disfigured. Rachel is the cousin of Katie. She and her son Aidan were good friends from Katie. Katies mother asks Rachel for help, because Rachel is journalist and it is not normal that a young, healthy girl falls down suddenly dead. Strange is also, that all three friends from Katie, with those it on the hut was, to the same time died. All persons at different places...
With the search Rachel finds the video. She plays it and looks at it. It consists of amusing pictures, strange noises and a woman and a small girl are to be seen again and again. As the video is terminated the telephone rings. Everyone this video sees, gets such a call. She will die in seven days. Rachel breaks out in panic. From this time many different things pass. From fear she tells her former friend into history. He would like to see also the video.
He does not find the film particularly excitingly and also ignores the call. Only after some time, Rachel can convince him. Together they look for the manufacturer of the video tape recording and particularly for the woman and the girl. But they do not have much time to solve the mystery and save their life.....
My opinion ~~~~~~~~~~~~ That I call a history. I have long time no more such film seen. My pulse was throughout fast, each muscle at my body tensely - I was as bound. The music, the actors, the atmosphere pulls one in such a way into a spell, that one must look simply.
Certain the something lends the atmosphere to the film. In the whole film it is usually a little dark - as in the dawn - or a lighter fog lies in air. Also the insertions in the form of negative photographs make the film interesting. Also I find the emphasis of the indications from the video very good. Thus one sees proper, of which the person thinks, if she looks at a certain object.
The actors were simply breath-robbing. There Naomi Watts would be to be mentioned. She plays the main role - Rachel. She reminds me a little of Michelle Pfeiffer and brings her role more than convincingly. None of their accumulations look somehow artificial - in the opposite. Perhaps some may know her from the film "Mulholland drive". I don`t know the other actors, but they played exactly the same as Naomi Watts such as professionals. It did not participate anything artificial or played - it was as material. Also the role of the small girl Samera is optimally occupied, even if it looks really a little frightening.
I find particularly mad also that in the film to many little things one pays attention. Things, which give the whole special cross section. Everywhere the water, which blurred pictures, all things those the film make still better, than it already is.
This film let really freeze for me the blood in the veins. Already for a long time no more film moved me in such a way like these. I think, after the film the telephone would have rung, I would probably dead have fallen down.
