I remember watching Jumanji years back in 1995 and at the time being younger thinking 'Wow!' I was completely blown away by it and thought how clever an idea it was and how well made it was - it was so exciting every time they took a turn and you were wondering what was going to appear!
When I heard that a film called Zathura was to be released back in 2006 I was intrigued as could it really live up to Jumanji - after all it was titled 'Zathura - A spaceadventure' and had the tagline 'from the world of Jumanji'. So it was obviously being marketed as the next and more modern Jumanji but could it really be as good?

Zathura ? a spaceadventure is a wonderfully imaginative and creative film and the script caters to kid?s ability to make the most fantastic ideas into a reality. This film celebrates the impossible and illogical and explores an entirely different universe. Like a kid?s imagination, there were no limits imposed on the script. An abundance of unrealistic scenarios like random meteorite showers and their sister being cryogenically frozen are introduced to the story not to mention random meat eating, heat-sensing giant space lizards to contend with. This craziness only adds to the child-like adventure of the film and the viewer is instantly opened up to a world of possibilities.

When I was a kid, every Sunday I watched reruns of the popular drama, 'Lost InSpace', about a family who went up into space and got lost (funny that, the title kind of gives it away!). So, when they made the decision to remake the series into a film, giving it a futuristic overhaul, I was really excited. The film was released in 1998, and its running time is 130 minutes.
