Advantages: Nice extras on DVD Disadvantages: Just like an episode of Sesame Street!
...My son is just getting to the age where he is strating to learn the abc's and I thought that this DVD might help a little. Basically it is a series of video images which feature items for each letter of the alphabet.
Okay, I guess there are not a million ways to teach something like this but by the time you get to C you wish the alphabet was only 10 letters long. It is very American which is not great if you do not live in Amercia and overall it just looks cheap.
On the plus side there are some good extras on the DVD but this alone is not worth the purchase. I hate being negative but I'd pass on this one if I were you. Sorry....

Advantages: Colourful Disadvantages: Waste of money
...I bought this DVD in Asda for £5.99 which I thought was quite good value, considering similar educational DVDs are usually around £12. This DVD is all about letters and the idea of the DVD is to help young children associate letters with familiar objects. This DVD is aimed at children ages 1-4 and it does have some educational uses, but I question to what extent the children benefit from it.
It may be useful when kids are learning their capital letters, helping them to link words and letters. It does not teach letter sounds which is the way children letter...

Advantages: Keanu Reeves is still gorgeous Disadvantages: Terrible storyline.
...The Lake House was a very disappointing movie, especially having seen that Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock work so well together in Speed. In The Lake House Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock start writing to each other when she asks the next occupier of her house to forward her mail. It soon transpires that they are in fact living two years apart, and they begin writing letters to each other. They fall in love with the Lake House they both live in (though they live there two years apart), and as their relationship grows they fall in love. They realise the time difference means they can never be together (after efforts to meet up), and end their relationship, but when she inadvertantly saves his life (in the future), the spell is broken and they are able to meet and be together. A frankly terrible storyline, the only real redeeming...
