Overview

The Rambo Trilogy are famous film's starring Sylvester Stallone. The film Rambo 1 is based on a novel called First blood written by David. First blood is also the sub-title of the first movie "Rambo: First Blood". The saying "First Blood" in the film portrays who started the war against John Rambo.

Cast

Sylvester Stallone (John Rambo) - John Rambo is an ex US Army's Green Berets who fought in Vietnam and was handed a Medal of Honor. Now he is alone as all his friends have died and is now trying to adjust to a normal life but can he?

Richard Crenna (Colonel Trautman) - Colonel Trautman is John's only living friend and also his superior.

Brian Dennehy (Sheriff Will Teasle) - The Sheriff is John's enemy, as he does not let John walk around a town with freewill. Will John outsmart the sheriff and take on a whole police department?

Charles Napier (Marshall Murdoch) - Marshall Murdoch left John for dead in Vietnam, Will John make it back and seek Revenge?

Story

Rambo I (1982) (This time it's for himself)

This film opens with John Rambo walking to a small town and is in
search of his friend from the army, this is where he discovers that he has died from cancer. Now Rambo is on the hunt for food as the town's sheriff picks him up to give him a lift out of the town where he drops him off. Rambo does not like the idea of been thrown out of the town so he decides to walk back as the sheriff watches from his rear mirror. The sheriff immediately changes direction and arrests Rambo. How long will Rambo stay in jail for? Watch it and find out.

Runtime: 89 MINS

Rambo II (1985) (This time it's for his country)

This film opens with Rambo in prison and Colonel Trautman comes to ask Rambo to go on a mission with him. And if the mission is successful he may get a presidential pardon for his crimes. Rambo accepts the mission and gets his gear packed; His mission is to check that the camp is clear of POW'S (Prisoners of War) from the Vietnam War. His mission is not to engage the enemy but to take pictures and report back. Will Rambo listen to his Superiors or will he start a War of his own? Meanwhile Marshall Murdoch is doing everything he can to make sure Rambo does not come back with any POW's. Will Rambo make it back alive? I guess you already know the answer to that as this is a Trilogy.

Runtime: 91 MINS

Rambo III (1988) (This time it's for his friend)

The film opens with John stick fighting for money as Colonel Trautman watches him from the crowd. Colonel Trautman asks John to come on another mission with him but John refuses the mission. John continues his peaceful live at the monastery working and living with monks. The Colonel heads for his mission behind enemy lines where they are ambushed by a helicopter where the Colonel is caught and held as a prisoner. John finds out that the Colonel is captured and without a question he offers to take on the mission to save his friend. Will John get help? Or will he finish is mission by himself?
Soundtracks (Data extracted from Wikipedia)

The original scores for all three films were composed and conducted by Jerry Goldsmith. The music from the second film was performed by the National Philharmonic Orchestra and the music from the third by the Hungarian State Opera Orchestra. Goldsmith's main theme for Rambo was the basis for the end title song "It's A Long Road," performed by Dan Hill, part of the "First Blood" soundtrack.

Conclusion

I think the movies are great, I loved the first two the best as the first one introduces John and the 2nd one he fought a war on his own. I wouldn't recommend buying these DVD's as the quality is very poor compared to other DVD's as the picture is very fuzzy. Also Rambo 4 (John Rambo) will be releasing soon so it would be best off getting a Quadrilogy box set. Also it would be a good idea to get HD-DVD or Blu-Ray Disc version because I do not think that that they are going to improve the quality of the DVD's.
